I prefer looking on JustBeads because it's not so overwhelming. I can
actually see what's coming up in the next days, instead of having to really work to get through eBay's next 24 hours. Is there a way I can remove specific seller when I look on eBay? The ones who sell Indian lampwork. Tina "Karen_AZ" wrote in message news:MxFZa.41045$Bp2.5762@fed1read07... I sell on eBay mostly because that's where I get the best prices for my work. Kandice, if you can afford the time and effort, DO think about Justbeads too. I had "issues" with them for a while (long story) but I have to say I'm very pleased with them since I've gone back the last several months. My last crop of auctions I sold one of 6 items on Ebay, and 4 of 6 on Justbeads, and THREE of them had multiple bids. I think there is a bit more focused buying there, as opposed to bargain hunting on Ebay. Just a hunch, though. I've said for years (going back to when I sold on Ebay, Justbeads, AND Amazon) that it's a crap shoot, no matter what. Must be sunspots. It would seem to me that a place like Wet Canvas would be a central place
where serious artists could be accessed. I guess you have to be invited into the group. But even if they had a list of participants it would give access to a list of artists known to be serious, and who make their own beads. WetCanvas isn't "invitational". Anyone can go there and read messages on any of the forums. You have to register (which is free or with voluntary donation) to post or to participate in the projects. And yes, I suppose there is a level of exposure there, but it's not exactly a gallery like most artists' websites. I have to chuckle at the word "serious". I think there are many hobbyists out there who do exquisite work. WC has all levels, from newbies to dabblers to those trying to make a living from this. -- KarenK Desert Dreamer Designs http://members.cox.net/desertdreameraz/ Ebay Sto http://www.stores.ebay.com/desertdreamerdesigns JustBeads: http://www.justbeads.com/search/ql.cfm?s=DesertDreamer |

I don't buy as much on JustBeads because eSnipe doesn't do any other auctions
except eBay. ~~ Sooz ------- Let the beauty we love be what we do. --Rumi I'm not a hamster, and life's not a wheel. --Sooz ~ Dr. Sooz's Bead Links http://airandearth.netfirms.com/soozlinkslist.html |

]If you
]see something of mine for sale on eBay, it should be purchased through eBay. ]eBay is fairly harmless for buyers. **sigh** it's E-bay i want to avoid. altogether. Is this a philosophical avoidance, Vicki? Because if it's an anxiety issue, buying stuff via Buy It Now is just like buying at any other website. (No anxieties from bidding.) ~~ Sooz ------- Let the beauty we love be what we do. --Rumi I'm not a hamster, and life's not a wheel. --Sooz ~ Dr. Sooz's Bead Links http://airandearth.netfirms.com/soozlinkslist.html |

okay - so i go ahead and use their checkout, but ignore the total it
gives me, No, you don't use the Checkout at all. so i still need to sign up with E-bay? Yes, you do have to sign up with eBay. ~~ Sooz ------- Let the beauty we love be what we do. --Rumi I'm not a hamster, and life's not a wheel. --Sooz ~ Dr. Sooz's Bead Links http://airandearth.netfirms.com/soozlinkslist.html |

Wow, Karen, thank you for writing all that! Edifying.
I'm only speaking for myself here, but here's my take.... I had my own website, own URL, etc. for 2 years. I made a grand total of $785 from it in that time frame. It cost me $35 to register the URL and $14.95 a month to run it. That's roughly $380 in overhead, plus time ~snipped 4 BW~ ~~ Sooz ------- Let the beauty we love be what we do. --Rumi I'm not a hamster, and life's not a wheel. --Sooz ~ Dr. Sooz's Bead Links http://airandearth.netfirms.com/soozlinkslist.html |

But sites that give general information (like yours) are different from
sites that try and sell things. There's way more competition for beads and jewelry out there right now, and much much harder to get listed at the top on earch engines. -- Kandice Seeber Air & Earth Designs http://www.lampwork.net ]It's all about tagging a site properly to be discovered, and it's ]not easy to do out on your own. well, yes, and no. DH has made quite a study of it. especially for Google, since that's where we usually come up within the top five for our authors. but yes, you do have to know what you're doing, and i can see "creatives" not wanting to devote that kind of time to it. ----------- @vicki [SnuggleWench] (Books) http://www.booksnbytes.com (Jewelry) http://www.vickijean.com ----------- The Bill of Rights - Void where prohibited by Law. I've tried Justbeads several times. I have also sold through my site, on
Eclectic Beadery and on Ruby Lane. None of those venues has done nearly as well as eBay. I can sell beads on Justbeads, but it will be at a lower price. I have already obtained an eBay reputation that is really good. I don't have the inventory to split between the two. Maybe in the future - or possibly closer to the holiday season, but not right now when things are slower and people are on vacation. -- Kandice Seeber Air & Earth Designs http://www.lampwork.net I sell on eBay mostly because that's where I get the best prices for my work.
