Default rowan pattern?

Hello Everyone

I am new on this newsgroup so I aplogize if I am not following proper
n.group etiquette. I am looking at starting my first sweater. I
visited a knit store and saw a pattern in a Rown magazine "Denim
People". I feel in love with one sweater but I don't want to buy the
book for one pattern. If someone has the "Cargo" sweater pattern by
Kim Hargreaves, would you be kind enough to send me a copy? I'm not
sure how. I would not want anyone writing it out!! Fax maybe? I would
be open for suggestions on how I could return the favour.
Or, if anyone could direct me to a website that offers books at
wholesale prices I would be very appreciative. Is this a common
problem for knitters? I hope I'm not coming across as ... cheap.
Thankyou kindly.

No, you're not cheap, we all have that problem. There is the question
of copyright, however. Good ways to find a pattern that avoids that
question are to call your local library to see whether they have the
book or can get it via interlibrary load. You could also find your
local knitting guild to see whether they have a copy for loan to their
members. Also, my cheapest book purchases have been via MX Book Finder
(www.mxbf.com), a consortium of secondhand booksellers. It's amazing
the bargains you can find there! Good luck.

Having hopped over to Google to read this post (can't pull it up via
my nntp server) I see that it is a blatant request for a copyright
violation.

The magazine in which the pattern appears costs about $20; possibly
the pattern is available separately on the magazine's website for a
lesser cost.

Presumably if you can afford the yarn for the project you can afford
to purchase the pattern legally.

Little testy this morning aren't you. Did you read the beginning of her
message...new to this group, first sweater...

Shouldn't matter. Begging a copy for whatever reason is nothing more
than the promotion and execution of theft.

Your post regarding Annie's attic sounds the same as her request to me

Thanyou CHEX and Spampot. I will check that website and other local
stores. The book is selling for $45 plus tax. That was why I was
hoping to find the pattern alone. I tried the Rowan home page to buy
the pattern (legally) alone but I cannot due so.
I'll try to stay out of jail. lol

Gee, I recall posting the URL for the Annie's Attic website in
response to someone asking for help locating an AA pattern.

Next?

My mistake - I posted the EMAIL address for Annie's Attic customer
service, about four posts back.

Can I make you a coffee?
