Cracking, pinholes after baking -- how to prevent?
FIMO soft, yellow. Making very simple 1/4" thick by 1/4" round
dots for inlaying into wood. Baking 130F for 30 minutes, pieces invariably end up with cracks and pinholes that grab wood stain, which muddies their otherwise bright color. Problem seems to be worse with test pieces which *have* been kneaded, as per directions. Looks to me like air bubbles being trapped while kneading and layers created when folding the clay failing to bond under heat. |
