Working with Platinum?
Hi,
We're a small jewellers who only take on-line orders and everything is made by hand to order. We've had an enquiry through for one of our items made in platinum. Now, we only work with silver/gold and semi-precious stones at the moment and have no experience working in Platinum. The item in question is: http://www.pennyserenade.com/Cufflin...ilver//63.html It's a simple item, that needs just cutting from sheet and has a single solder join that is easy conceal... I've a few questions I'd like some expert help with before I can respond to the enquiry. 1) Having never worked in Platinum - is it similar to silver or gold? and are there any pitfalls we should be aware of? 2) Where are good suppliers of sheet Platinum in thicknesses of between 1 and 1.5mm 3) What would be a suitable markup on an item like this made in platinum? 4) If it really is too difficult and you'd advise against us having a go - could anyone with experience help out and make this on our behalf? (Paid accordingly of course!) Kind regards and thanks in advance! Mal |
