Sun Praire Wi.( Just north and east of Madison easy on and off the
interstate) is a Virtual quilters HEAVEN...Nirvana actually.....3 quilt
shops in town and a BIG quitl show every year and a great guild......Another
quilt shop is only about 6 miles qway from the original three....Then there
is Quintessential Quilts in Reedsburg and Baraboo...Madison has a
wonderfully diverse guild...The State Quilt guild is based in
Milwaukee....Sewing with Nancy is sponsoring a large Qult Expo in Sept. of
this year, in Madison...You will LOVE Wisconsin Quilters there are lots of
us.....
Then of course it is a hop skip and a jump into Ill with many more quilt
shops....I am in Central Wi. near Marshfield really a small town of 20,000
ish and we have a guild of 65 members....So Wi. is VERY pro
quilting...hardly a weekend goes by without some quilt show....WElcome

Let us know when you are settled and we will plan a shop hop/meet-up.
Sun Prairie shops are so great that we drive there from Chicago which
is three hours away! Part of the fun of the Sun Prairie shops is there
is something for all styles of quilting. J.J. Stitches is very
traditional and specializes in recreating antique quilts. Another shop
is very bright. If by chance you don't find what you want at those two
stores there are several others within a few miles.

It is a long day outing from Chicago but one we make at least once a
year. I try to arrange it when my husband is in the mood for a long
drive. He leaves me in Sun Prairie and goes for a walk along the
hiking trail. We have a late lunch together and then stop at a few
other shops on the way home. The advantage of having him along is that
I can sleep on the way home. I am exhausted from all that quilt shop
hopping.

Welcome to the Midwest, home to a great quilting community.

I will let you know when it happens, probably not before Sept. DH starts in
Aug, but I have to get the house sold before moving. Gail

There is a quilt show in that neck of the woods in September.

My guild is taking a bus trip there, with a stop planned for Sun
Prairie.

Hi Gail,
There are many fine shops between Milwaukee and Madison. I live in
Milton, which is South of the I-94 and there is one in Janesville also. a
meet-up sounds like a fun time. Hope we can get it together.

Thanks for the info. Once I get moved in, I'll certainly look forward to a
meet-up. Gail

I just joined this list today. I am also from the area, actually just over
the stateline but there is a large quilt shop in the Rockford area that you
may want to check out. http://www.quiltersgeneralstore.com/index.html
