Default Probably a dumb loom/weaving question

Ok, for you loom people (as opposed to loon people, oh wait, that would be
me........)

I've seen these woven necklaces where you have the big focal and then it
splits to make the necklace. Just a quick google, and this is the kind of
thing I mean:

Do you have to have a really big loom or can you slide your piece down as
you work on it?

Obviously, I know nothing about looms, but I'm thinking about it.
