Not enough Thread

My mother has been crocheting a large table cloth for my
sister-in-law. Unfortunately, they did not purchase enough thread to
complete the project. My mother says because of how and where she
started and the nature of the design, she can not use a different
colour/hue to go make some kind of border around what she has done so
far.

I would like to find out:

1) if there is any company (which I can access on-line or via e-mail)
that specializes in old thread lot/batch numbers, or

2) if there is any one out there that might have some of this thread
in the specified lot number available, that they would be willing to
sell to me.

Need approx 4 skiens

I don't crochet, but I have used many other DMC products, and dye lot just
isn't an issue with them. If you can find ecru crochet cotten in the size you
need, it should match.

Also, crochet cotton comes in balls, not skeins. Might make it easier to find,
if you know what you are looking for on the store shelves!

True (balls it is), I am old and type faster than I currently can
think.

My mother, of course, is older and doesn't think that DMC thread
colours match well enough from dye lot to dye lot for that to be a
consideration for one of her projects. (Unfortunately!)
