OT Cedar Creek re-enactment
This week- end is the Cedar Creek re-enactment of the Battle of Cedar
Creek during the American Civil War in Middletown, VA. This battle in interesting because the Confederates won the battle in the morning, the Federals won in the afternoon. The town is decorated with flags, and folks in period clothing can be seen entering local eateries, one of which was here and in business during the war, Wayside Inn. I followed a lovely bronze/brass cannon down the main street yesterday, it was kind of funny/wierd knowing that it is fully functional and was pointed at me! The re-enactment is centered around Belle Grove, a plantation home, I will be selling raffles tickets for a quilt under the big tent. My guild, TOVA, made the quilt, it is completely hand made, and proceeds are divided equally between the guild and the Belle Grove Foundation. I am hoping for sunshine all week-end because it isn't any fun in the mud and rain. Bonnie, in historic Middletown, VA |
