Window Restoration Techniques
Everything you'll need to know about restoring your wooden windows.
You'll learn professional techniques for replacing glass, repairing
and restoring rot, re-fabricating woodwork and more. Hardware
restoration and replacement, weather-stripping, glazing, paint
selection and application and sources for materials will also
be covered.

Introduction to Bowl Turning and Lathe Work
This workshop is a hands-on introduction to bowl turning with the
lathe, with an emphasis on creating one-of-a-kind wooden bowls, vases
and other hollow forms. Safety and proper use of the lathe and tools
will be covered. A slideshow of a wide range of turned forms will also
be presented. Materials fee: $25

The Business of Furniture Design
If you dream of designing furniture for a living, this is a workshop
you should not miss. Tyler Hays, founder and creative director of
BDDW, joins us for a frank discussion about the realities of a career
in furniture design. Pricing, sourcing materials, small business
management, marketing and promotion will be covered. This is a rare
opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the design business
and have many of your questions answered.

Sculpture In Wood
Learn to create sculpture using wood as the primary material. Explore
the shaping and sculpting of wood using a variety of power and hand
tool methods. Various carving and assemblage techniques will also be
introduced and students will be instructed on how to finish and
display wooden sculptures. The workshop project will be a sculpture of
your own design.

Setting Up Shop
This workshop is designed to help you set up your own woodworking shop
without breaking the bank. Before you buy anything, come hear about a
wide range of options as well as local sources for new and used
machinery, hand tools, clamps, lumber, finishing supplies etc. We'll
offer informed opinions and answer your questions about what you'll
need to get started and how to do it in a limited space. This may also
be a good way to meet other students who are interested in
sharing a workspace locally.

Tablesaw Techniques
The tablesaw is the one of the most important tools in any wood shop.
Learn safety and proper set-up, plus a variety of user-made fixtures
and jigs to expand the potential of the machine. Jigs for tapering,
tenoning, re-sawing, handling small parts, proper blade selection, the
use of molding heads and dado sets will be covered.
