What she is saying is that the upper right corner looks exactly like the upper left corner but facing the other/opposite direction- as is the lower right and lower left corners. To make the "mirror image" you simply rearrange the pieces of fabric to look like the other corner but the flowers, etc. will be arranged so that the florals "point" in the opposite direction- or "face" in the opposite direction. As always.... clear as mud??? VBG If you are fussy cutting, use a clear template material like Mylar with a permanent marker like a Sharpie. Place the clear template on the floral or whatever you are showcasing, and draw the outlines right on the template so that you can line up the motif in exactly the same position for each cut. To mirror image the showcased motif, just flip the template over. Be sure to make it right and wrong sides or it might get confusing. More mud? LOL Leslie & The Furbabies in MO. Debra in VA See my quilts at http://community.webshots.com/user/debplayshere Its late at night so it may be me (!) but the only way you can get a true mirror image is if the fabric is printed with a mirror image. As the pattern is designed for their own fabric, it may be that that particular fabric does have a mirror image in the design. However, on page 2, sewing instructions it says 'The block rotation gives the appearance of reversed blocks - there is no need to make reversed blocks', and later it explains that you have to rotate the completed blocks to give the mirror image If you note in your mind (and label the block) exactly where it will go you can fussy cut so like is opposite like. An easy way to fussy cut so you get the same image each time is, as someone else said, by using a see-through plastic template. It looks a fabulous quilt. -- Sally at the Seaside ~~~~~~~~~~ (uk) http://community.webshots.com/user/sallyswin |
