Default Beading Bee's?

ok, silly idea just came to me, but then maybe not so silly.

You've all heard about quilting bee's right? where a bunch of quilters get
together and just hang out and quilt together, well, why not a beading bee?
i know that if i get beading without anyone around, i start falling asleep
(Beading relaxes me, what can i say. i think the fact that i have sleep
apnea doesnt help either lol) but when my room mate and i bead together its
just a lot of fun. also we swap beads if we need other colors from each
other and generally help and encourage one another anyone else think this is
a good idea??

Beading Bees are fun, but I usually have to do something repetitive.
Otherwise I get too distracted. I have a neighbor who arranged 2 hours of
beading at the library, which I haven't been to for a while. And the place
I took some classes has an "open studio" 2 days a week. I often do bead
crochet in busy places. This allows me to soak up new ideas without messing
up my project.

basically - that's what happens every Wed night locally - all the beaders get
together - bead, chat, eat the treat of the week....
LOL
I guess that's a "beader's bee" - they just call it a bead group...
specifically ..

You might try checking
http://www.meetup.com and see if there's a beading
meetup in your area. Seems like that would be a good venue for this sort of
thing.

Back in the Dawn of Time when I was using AOL, a bunch of the east coast
beaders got together and had a Bead Bash. I went a couple times and it was a
riot. We showed off, we traded, we wheeled and dealed and got totally silly.
Great fun and I highly recommend it.

I go to "beading bees" about once a month -- and as soon as we find a suitable
table for the house, I'm going to start having them here. It's been a plan for
a long time (I've been searching for a table).

just a lot of fun. also we swap beads if we need other colors from each

I was going to ask the same thing. Would you Please stop tuning into my
brain waves? She does this all the time folks.
A suitable table would have a rim around it so beady objects wouldnt go
flying off onto the floor, and it would be big enough to give everyone there
enough elbow room, and would have a handy dandy bead chart *courtesy of the
Dr.* laminated into the surface at every place setting.

Wood, round, large enough for bead group and family dinners at Thanksgiving
(insertable leaf is a plus), and high enough that Kevin can get his knees under
it (in wheelchair).

One of my not so LBS has a Beat n Chat every week, free, where people bring a
project to work on and designs to show and tell.
