The stronger the chocolate/cocoa, the more poisonous, so they often
get away with small amounts of milk chocolate with no/little adverse
effects. Half a can of hot cocoa mix might not be too bad since it's
likely mostly suger, but if that were half a can of pure cocoa, I'd be
(personally) heading to the vets!

I buttered the bread and grabbed the green shaker container of good ol'
Kraft Grated Parmesan Cheese. * It had formed into a lump, so I gave it
four good *hard* shakes. * But..... the top wasn't completely closed.. * I
have Parmesan cheese down my shirt/bra, in my hair, in my purse, covering
the butter in the butter dish, all over the countertops, the dishes in
the dish drainer and the floor...... and the backs of each of my three
dogs was generously sprinkled with cheese, too.

The HairyButt Gang was more than happy to 'mop' the kitchen floor with
their tongues and get it all nice and sticky clean! * As an added bonus,
they licked each other clean, too! * Well, on each others' backs. * Where
the cheese landed.....

Never a dull moment in *my* house!

We have a guest dog that visits for a week 2 or 3 times per year, she
hates flies and follows them diligently. We always tell her that if
she catches it she can eat it!

Unfortunately our own big girl has her eyes on the occasional unlucky
rabbit that gets through our fence, three of those have lost their
lives in the last two years. We do not encourage that behavior! BUT,
it is hard to stop a prey dog --hound-- it's in their genetics.

I needed only read the sender and the first line to anticipate the
rest - takes one to know one. Anything tasty that gets dropped on our
floor gets the whole floor cleaned... just in case there might be
more. The latest game is bug-hunting. Ears cocked forward with
concentration like you only hear about. He seems to have a special
prediliction for no-see-ums - he can both see-um *and* catch-um...

Reminds me of the story...Folks came to dinner at a friend's house.
For some reason, the cleanliness of the dishes was questioned. *The
hosts replied 'Our dishes are as clean as soap and water can get
them'. *After everyone, including guests, had finished dinner the
hosts put all the plates on the floor and called 'Soap'; 'Water' and
the 2 dogs ran to the plates and licked them clean! *Mind you, ours do
go in the dishwasher after that! *Never have to worry about spilled/
dropped foodstuffs in our house!

orchards. Take away bunny is just fine, but I wish he'd learn to bin
the wrappings! And the green wobbly bit...

Heavy Sigh... I'm not going to say it's easy, especially once the
pattern is established, but it's the predilection that's in their
genetics; the behavior can be channelled/modified.

I'm not preaching either; hunting and varmint control are legit. Just
saying if you seriously wanted to change the behavior, it can be done.

DD refers to our Ginger pooch as a 'birdurer'. bird/murderer that is. She
has a tendency to catch a bird now and then. Mice too.
She makes a full time job out of chasing mice and there
aren't too many of them. She is driven . At least her energy doesn't go to
detroying stuff around the house.

No problem - don't have dogs anymore. Last one had to be put down about a
month before my husband passed away last summer and I've decided I don't
want another. However, I am well aware of the fact that chocolate and dogs
isn't a good thing!
