Congratulations on the craft sale. I remember the TIckle Trunk
fondly. In fact, I wore the sweater I bought there last year
(remember?) to a function last night.

Sorry to hear that Lewiscraft is closing. I liked going there in my
travels

Higs,
Katherine

I thought you got that sweater at Woof Design. That's the one with
some type of scene knitted into the front? It was on a window
display? Woof Design does all the lovely knits.

I will try to control myself at the Lewiscraft liquidation sale
although I will miss them.

Yannow what? I think you are correct. I definitely need a minder.
g Good thing that you are in St. John's for my visits, and to keep
track of me. g

Higs,
Katherine

*YOU* need a minder? *I* need a minder...now that one of my suitcases
is empty I have to refill it.....and I *should* do it from the
stash....but now with the Lewiscraft liquidation....here comes
trouble! Plus all their lovely glass beads......

LOL At least you are making money from it now!
How was the storm? We saw some pictures. Boy, you are really getting
hammered, aren't you?

Higs,
Katherine

Wow, congratulations, Michelle... that is so cool. And I like the name
Mayberry Creations! )

I won't really miss Lewiscraft (although I always liked that store, and went
there often when it was in the nearby city) because it hasn't been near
enough to me for a few years now... and I rarely go to the bigger city where
it is located. It is a shame though to see it going out of business. I
felt bad too when White Rose went out of business... we shopped there quite
a bit, and ALWAYS bought our Christmas tree from them each year. Such a
shame when well established businesses close their doors. /

oups.com...
There has been some excitement here on Friday.

I've been stocking up two big suitcases with crocheted items to sell,
and have sold a few things, and have gotten great reviews (wow!) from
people I've given things to free of charge or as gifts. And as of
yesterday, my things are being carried at a local crafter's store on
consignment! I'm so excited! Strangely, it's also very frightening to
be putting my things up for public review and consumption. The store
is called the Tickle Trunk, and they took most of my purses, most of my
hats and ALL my wire crochet. I've labelled my stuff as Mayberry
Creations....what do you all think of that name?

I now have to get busy and restock my suitcase and make an appointment
with the provincial heritage store to see if their manager likes it
(their staff loved it, but now it's all out!). Does anybody else go
the consignment route?

And, of course, being from Newfoundland & Labrador, I have to
mention....Team Gushue brought home Gold for Canada in Curling!! I
think the entire province was screaming in joy....Katherine, how was
the celebration up your way? They even closed schools for the
afternoon for the curling, but we won't get into my opinion on that
what with Katherine being a teacher and probably enjoying the sudden
1/2 day off!

As a final note, the 90 Lewiscraft stores across Canada are closing
soon....apparently their owner couldn't find a buyer as he retires.
Which means I'll be stuck with Michaels or Walmart for mid-range yarn.
This was a little low point for the day. They'll be liquidating
starting immediately; I picked up some things already. Bad girl, I
know, I know.....

So lots of news around here, and now I see that Katherine is pursuing a
Test Knitter project, too. Friday was a good day!

I've only made a little money, nowhere near what it cost in materials
to make all the stuff I've made.

The storm was lovely, thank you. 60 cm of snow yesterday. The car was
practically buried, and the drifts were 6 feet high in our driveway.
Luckily we paid a snow plow man to do most of the driveway and didn't
have to shovel more than an hour or so. More snow tomorrow

And they seemed to be holding their own against Michaels and Walmart,
too. The staff in the two stores here seem to be in shock and hugely
disappointed. They always showed such interest in their customer's
projects, which doesn't happen at the bigger stores.

Gee, I've never stopped to think about that....where do some of the
warmer-climate countries practice winter sports? Obviously there are
year-round 'cold' facilities but they can't support all the people
training, can they?

Jamaica had a bobsled team at one time, but I don't know if they still
do. The Disney movie "Cool Runnings" was based on this, though a
little fictionalized.

I suppose they all manage somehow, or they wouldn't be there.

Yikes! 6 foot drifts... wait until I tell Matthew that one in the
morning... he won't complain about the 3 foot drifts we often get anymore.
LOL

Gemini
- glad you didn't have to dig out from that yourself.
