I've posted this question here, and at Polymer Clay Central--those are the
two boards I read. So far, the only person with this yellowing issue is the
paper artist who originally wrote to me. Nobody else has answered with
anything other than curiousity---we all want to know!
Unfortuneately the woman with the yellowing threw the remaining
Varathane--and the can--away, so there's no further looking/testing
possible. We can't even verify that she got the new stuff or that it was
not the outdoor or oil based versions---she says not, but I really like
verification in these questions.

If anyone is on other groups/boards, please feel free to ask around and then
report back!

That's the one thing I really wondered about. Water based varnishes
don't really yellow. Adhesion/crackling/bubbling/hazing are more of an
issue than actually yellowing. That's more of an oil-based varnish
problem - although most oil based varnishes go on yellow/amber to
begin with, which I'm sure she would have noticed from the start. Not
to mention the smell...

yes, I wonder about that part too---the yellowing being an oil based issue
is ver true. Also, I have seen people talking about yellowing from a
contaminated batch of Future as well, but that person was pretty sure it was
a contamination/growth thing. The person who is having the current trouble
said there was an oily film on top, sortof like chicken soup, in the can.

So please, if any of you out there are using the new Varathane, look at your
pieces and report back. Mine are NOT yellowing. Mine are all on polymer
clay---hers were on paper and canvas---and I'm interested in hearing all
responses on this issue.
