New pictures from Els

Three new photos on the site from Els. Am I up to date? If I've missed
anybody's mailing, apologies. I've been busy setting up my new web site - my
fifth - and deleting spam!

By the way, I have quite a few e-mail addresses. I only use this one for
communication with the news group. This is the only e-mail address that has
been affected by the "Microsoft" spam! Those of you who encode your email
addresses are very sensible. The spam has been falling off recently. I have
Norton with live update installed by the way.

Els, the colors are fantastic. Also loved the picture of you spinning. I
am always curious how others on this group look. (nosey I guess)

Carol you are right, I am always curious about that as well, but still
mental pictures and the real thing most of the time do not come close. At
least that is what I find. LOL

I don't know anything about spinning but I'm so curious! Now Els, are
you taking those seperate color rovings (that is what I see in the
lower left hand corner of the picture with you isn't it?) and spinning
it into that neat multi-color yarn?

Hi Laurie,

You are correct, I do use all the seperate colours and card these into
small batts. Pile them all on top of one and other and pull these all
together in a very long single roving. This will result in a multi
coloured sliver or roving and from it I spin a thick thin yarn. With the
other dye mohair I do the same and spin it into a very fine straight
yarn. Now the two get plied together, that is what I am doing in the
picture. Running the one yarn from the side into the other I am holding
straight out from the orifice. It creates a fancy yarn...the one you can
see on Martin's website on the niddy noddy. It is not hard to do and a
lot of fun to create.

I started to just save the post for future browsing until I saw Carol's post
about a picture of Els! Put me in the curious category too. I went back to
the original post and opened that page right up!

You do beautiful work Els. Enjoyed as well seeing the artist ;D Your wheel
was a lot smaller than I've been picturing. I keep getting the image in my
head of all of you at these huge wheels that fill the entire corner of a
room (a good sized one) Creating these mountains of yarn which you further
get to play with when you use them. I keep forgetting that we the (human
race) keep striving to make everything smaller except taxes lol.

I have to agree with the other gals, you do lovely work and I love the picture
of you. Yes, when I get a mental image of someone, then see them it's all
together different.

Same here, Els, I really enjoyed seeing the pictures -- and I just love that
Mary Poppins bag!

The dying is so amazing -- I have never seen yarns in such vivid and unique
colors.
