Quilts from Large Scale Prints
Hi all. Opinions please?
What sort of quilt would you make if the main fabric in question was a very large print? I'm talking animals on a juvenile novelty print that are anywhere from 4" long (head to tail) to 7" long? I'm already doing a quillow with another fabric of a similar scale, because it just wouldn't work to be cut into pieces. The only thing I can think of is to do a really large scale attic window sort of thing, with the creatures in the windows. Argh! What would you do? Any good pattern ideas out there, other than just giant squares? -- Nancy in Livermore, CA (Remove NOSPAM to reply) |

How about irregular log cabin? Cut out each animal to whatever size
suits it. Put irregular logs around each one. That's what I did he http://www.home.earthlink.net/~dogsn...nimalQuilt.jpg http://www.home.earthlink.net/~dogsn...eupGiraffe.jpg --Lia Nancy in Livermore, CA wrote: Hi all. Opinions please? Any good pattern ideas out there, other than just giant squares? I like what Sandy Turner does with them. She wrote an article for Quilters Newsletter last fall. You can see pictures and such from it he http://www.qnm.com/webextras/feature56/ Also, Diane Weber makes patterns designed for large scale prints. You can see them he http://www.make-it-easy.com/Weber_SewBiz_01.cfm Hope that gives you a start. marcella |
