finished project
I finished a wall-hanging for a friend. I used a technique called
fused-edge applique. I liked it well enough to try it again, and my friend LOVED her little bird. You can see it at this link. It's on facebook, but I *think* you do not have to log in or anything to see my pictures here. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...3&l=c937009f0f Karen, Queen of Squishies |

That's a wonderful piece, Karen! What is fused-edge appliqué, though? I couldn't find it online to show you, but it was in a past issue of AQS mag. You apply a thinned version of Liquid Thread to the back side around the edges of you pcs. before you cut them out. You press it with a teflon sheet over it until it's dry. Then you cut the pcs. out and you have edges that will fuse to the backgroud fabric with a dry iron, and that will not fray. You don't have to sew around the edges, the author has several quilts that get used and washed and have never frayed. If she sews around the edges it's because she likes the way it looks. Poor explanation, but you get the idea. LOL Karen, Queen of Squishies |
