Default OT - update on Tiina

Taken from her husband's blog site:

Tuesday 24.07.2007 22.15
Well my mother-in-law had called several times to the hospital to find out
how Tiina was. She hadn't come back to her room by 8 PM so she called again
at 10 pm. The surgery ended at 6.30 PM and if I understood right it went
well. Too what extent that is I am not sure. She is being kept in recovery
over night due to lack of personnel because of summer holidays. I will know
more tomorrow and hopefully get to visit with her.
Wed. 25.07.2007 08.37
Well my mother-in-law called this morning with good news. Tiina's operation
had gone well and she had been moved to her own room just after Midnight.
She had already eaten something this morning and had received pain killers
and is now resting. She said we would be able to visit her just after Noon
sometime.
Wed. 25.07.2007 14.44
I just talked to Tiina via phone. She is doing well. Unfortunately all the
lymph nodes in her breast and underarm had to be removed. We were hoping
that it wouldn't have to be so. The doctor found one that was quite hard and
decided to do away with them. The tumor has been sent to the Cancer Research
Center in Helsinki and the results should be back for Tiina's first
follow-up on Aug. 1st. The surgery lasted from 2 pm - 6.30 pm. She was
transferred to her room around 11 pm last night. She is o antibiotics and
painkillers. She can sit up and go to the bathroom on her own now. She still
feels a little dizzy when she does so but said it is getting better. We will
go to visit her after the meal time so that would be after 4 pm.

So! It's going fairly well, considering, and we can keep thinking of them.

Could you disguise the Web address a bit like we do our e-mail
addresses. Then it might not show up as an address. You could explain it
in your message. Its quite a short address - no complicated numbers or
anything.

Well didn't think of that but I just got home a few minutes ago and someone
has gotten the messages to the wonderful ladies in BBS. So now I feel
better knowing that they know. I know a couple of them made the preemie
quilts and send them to Tiina.

Default OT - update on Tiina

Hi

I'm slowly getting back to normal things

I've been home for a couple of weeks but had a small out patientthingy done
at the hospital last Friday to fix some stuff.. I keep having to go back a
acople of times a week to make sure there is no infection and that
everything is healing OK.

I am not in too much pain (none at all if I sit absolutely still ; ) ), and
I am able to rest at night. We are having hot and humid weather which
doesn't help.

The lab results are pretty good, there is hope; ) and a preliminary plan
for the further treatments. Do't know when they will start, not until after
everything heals up OK.

Still on sick leave from work for two week, and I know I need to start doing
some sewing as all lifting and
carrying is forbidden (so no house cleaning for me). I try to think of stuff
to do all day.. the kids go back to school tomorrow.

Thanks for all the comments and well wishes.

How very reassuring to hear direct from you Tiina.
It's good that you are home, but being watched over by the hospital.
Many more hurdles for you to clear, but you have a positive attitude, a
devoted family and good friends, so you will be supported through the
ordeals of the treatment.
Let's hope that in a year from now, you will be able to look back over
the whole experience with hope and resolution for the future.
