Default HUG Quilts

Do we ever see any of the finished Hug Quilts these days - just wondering. It used to be so nice to go to that site and see them all, but I realize that was a lot of work to keep on ... it was much appreciated tho'.

I often wonder the same thing Sharon. Seems like there were a few recently but have seen nothing of the finished product.

It is too bad Cindy - I couldn't wait to get all the beautiful blocks from all the very generous quilters on this group when I requested blocks for a HUG quilt - seems a shame to have it just a thing from the past.

I've never talked on Facebook about this quilting group, so the answer is no I haven't asked on FB. Maybe the whole thing has been dropped becuz of no interest anymore - it seems that way as no one but Cindy and you Janner have shown any interest in my post.

I think a lot of things have changed since people can't get this group and
folks don't want to go to FB.

I did reply after Cindy's post Sharon; but it didn't show up here,
because I hit the 'reply' key instead of 'follow up'. Sorry.
I wondered if it might be that sending blocks or cards etc to anyone in
need of a Hug has taken the full quilt's place. Many not good things
had happened to some of those quilts over the many years I have been on
RCTQ. I investigated the whereabouts of missing Hug quilts some years
ago ...

Well I can tell you that the quilt that Connie Davis instigated for the
People of Enschede firework disaster and the 4 quilts that were given to
the firemen widows did get there.
I paid £340 for a flight out to Holland and was met by Carol's husband.
I spent 2days with them at the Air-force base were Carol's DH was the
Commander in charge
Connie could not make due to her mother's illness.
I presented one of the quilts to one of the widows. She could not speak
English and I could not speak Dutch. Her husbands name was Hans and was
in the centre of the quilt. She just said to me that he was looking down
on us. We wept in each others arms, not saying anything.
The TV crew were there.
It took me about 4 months to do the centre panel of the main quilt in
bead work. It was hung in a museum in Enschede.

I did eventually get a book on the story and a video of the presentation.

Howdy!
Where-oh-Where-did-the-hugs-quilts-go?
I still make Hug Quilts, for distribution around here. Often, it's a soft
flannel quilt for a cancer patient; sometimes a fun little number for a new
baby or his big brother.
But RCTQ Hugs-... seems they kind of got out of hand. Someone we didn't
know was asking for a quilt for someone else we didn't know, no thanks were
ever given or Finished project reported on, and the Hug movement kind of
moved on. Too bad, but, then, many of the folks from this group moved on,
too. Things seem to go in cycles.
If, Sharon, you'd like to get another project started, please do.
Here &/or on FaceBook, we can play, see pics somewhere, share the Hugs from
the Hugs.
Cheers!
Ragmop/Sandy - cooking the pinto beans for supper...got cornbread?

Hey Sandy, it's a little late, but I can have a pone of cornbread ready in
30 minutes! But I think it might get cold by the time I get there!
