Default news group problems

I have been having a devil of a time getting this news group posting
to act right. I wonder if it is just me or is it widespread. Some of
the most recent posts are showing up 1-2 days after posting. some of
mine don't show up at all. Curious. Google never seems to acknowledge
that they have any problems they just try to clear it up and then hope
nobody notices that there have been any problems. Has anybody else
been having any issues with the newsgroup?
Perspiring minds want to know here in the heatland, errr, heartland.

One half of the original team who created Google was Russian... and
the Soviets sure knew a thing or two about burying bad news,
airbrushing people out of history, etc.

Default news group problems

John, I have no newsgroup problems....but I don't use Google, either. On
those rare occasions when I had time to play online games, the Google thing
would suddenly take me to an error message (usually when I was winning, darn
it!). I deleted as much of it as I could off my computer and now used a
different search engine.

As a matter of fact, I pay a bit every month to SuperNews, a premium server,
so that I can audit my newsgroups without problems and download binary files
easily. It's worth it for me, but that's just my situation...others would
probably feel it is an unnecessary expense.

NAYY, just a very satisfied customer.

The only problem I have right now is finding time to read and post!
Computer time in the evenings is iffy, due to the thunderstorms. On the
other hand, I get a lot more sewing done.

Wish we could get some more rain with these storms! I feel bad for all
those poor folks east of us who have been overwhelmed with water, and here
we are just praying to get some of that moisture.

Default news group problems

Yesterday I didn't receive any messages from 1 in the afternoon until almost
8 last night. After 8, some of the earlier messages came through, but I'm
not sure about all of them.

I don't use Google, I use OE.

Hey John, roadrunner has usenet service. You could hook up to that be
done with google. It is a provided service, so there are no charges
involved.

I believe either one of these would be your server:

news-server.columbus.rr.com
news-server.insight.rr.com

For a reader you can use any one of a number of things, including
Outlook Express. Being as OE is one of the first things we pull off
of the systems at my house I can't help you with that. However there
are tons and tons of troubleshooting, problem solving, and how to
pages about OE online.

I use Free Agent, available he

Gravity is another free reader that is very well thought of, and is
available he
http://lightning.prohosting.com/~tbates/gravity/

There are also a fair few commercially available clients out there.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for both e-mail and newsgroups. Newsgroup
access is through my ISP.
