Default crumb piecing

I've been hand piecing some crumb squares.
I cut a bunch of 6.5" muslin squares and
have been doing the sew-and-flip thing with
the crumbs. It's awesome! I can sew and
not wake up the babies.

I also have a bunch of 8.5" square sheets
of telephone book paper ready for sewing
strings to when I have time (i.e., DH takes
both babies out in the double stroller).

I'm so happy to be sewing regularly again.

P.S. Rocky is 4 months old now! How time
has flown.

In that case it should be a piece of cake.

Okay, just what is crumb piecing. Are you referring to scraps? Any photos?

Oh, it's just crazy piecing without the
embroidery. I don't have any photos of
my work, but here's a link to where I'm
getting my education:

I'm trying to use up a whole lotta scraps
I got from Freecycle.

Your quilts are wonderful! What a great use for scraps of any size, shape
and color. Thanks for sharing and providing the photo link.

I did a quilt similar to that. My mistake was not putting in the solid
blocks - they do make it work. Mine was just a mass of scaps sewn together
:-(

I've never heard of using telephone book pages? Does it really work?

I know a gal that does string quilts using pennysaver pages.
(Pennysaver is a local mailed classified kind of booklet)
They are nice but everyone that has helped her complains about
the messy ink. Someone else I knew used readers digest magazines.
Boy Anita those crumb quilts are really wonderful.

Crumbs are a much nicer name than OTF (off the floor) piecing. I'm
saving mine from now on!
