Default Ideas for finishing a project

I've got a really great friend who is graduating from law school in May. I
decided to make her something as a graduation gift. I designed a pattern
using photo x pro from a pre-raphaelite picture of the Lady of Shallot. I
wanted it to be a big, impressive looking piece she could hang on her wall
when she's officially a lawyer. So, I used a whole yard piece of 28 ct.
Jubiliee.

I don't know if any of you have used photo x pro, but the chart design was a
little funky, with the first page starting on the bottom left, and the last
page the upper right, so after several months of working on it, I realized
it wasn't matching up, and it was basically upside down, if you can picture
it. I had to frog quite a bit, but I wasn't willing to start over because I
was too far along. Now the result is, is that it is not centered on the
fabric. There is much more fabric at the top than the bottom, and I am
getting close to finishing. Originally, I had thought to do a sort of
medieval/celtic looking border, but it still won't be even. The Lady of
Shallot is based on the poem by Tennyson, if any of you remember that from
your college days. I need ideas for maybe including lines from the poem??
Any ideas would be helpful.... it's getting close to time to send it to be
framed, and ship it to her in CA. Graduation is mid-May.

Thank you all, I know this was very long, and I am sort of new here, but I
have gotten some great ideas for other projects just following along with
you.

I didn't see any phrase that "jumped out" at me. But I have a few thoughts:

1.) go ahead and do the border unevenly, if you can do the sides the
same as the bottom, and do the top thicker/ more detailed variation of
the other three sides.

2.) Just stitch "the Lady of Shallot" across the top, with some
illuminated letters on the "L" and "S"?

3.) do all four sides evenly and cut the excess off the top for
bookmarks or noodling cloth.

4.) Personalize it across the top with your friend's name and the year
of her graduation and the name of the law school? (don't know if that
would look funny with the Lady of Shallot theme).

hope that helps!

Sue

Thank you Susan... those are all great ideas.... I think I like your #2
idea the best stitching Lady of Shallot across the top with the illuminated
letters.

The sides are even, it is just not centered top to bottom, so the idea of a
thicker top border is great too.

Of course, being the type of person I am and this being a *really* big
piece, I see it finished as a tapestry and NOT framed! The heavier border at
the top sounds wonderful too! I can picture it clearly -- NOT framed but with
a really lovely backing fabric, some sort of nice decorative trim along all 4
sides, satin-y cording around the perimeter with maybe tassels on the bottom
edges, all hanging from a decorative rod with spear or open spiral finials!
VBS -- I been at the sewing machine too long I guess :-))). CiaoMeow ^;;^

I love Waterhouse, but this one is neither of his paintings, it's a painting
by Egley... I sent it as an attachment in the previous post... just scroll
down to the bottom. She is standing and looking out the window, while
Lancelot is reflected in the mirror.

There are 2 Lady of Shailot paintings by Waterhouse...one of her in the
boat..."floating down to Camelot" (I'm doing that one for myself)...and
one of her in the tower watching life reflected in her mirror. There are
a few others but those are the ones most often reproduced. If you can
give some idea of what she is doing someone may think of an appropriate
line

Attachments don't work well in newsgroups, and I don't see one anyway.
Do you have a link to a picture?
