Default So- How's your summer been???????

Hi All,

I had an unexpected root canal this week and have five more dental visits
scheduled. I might be leaving for PA today- my mom is back in the hospital &
is scheduled for a small surgery this morning and to start kidney dialysis (
sp?) today. So, this is what I've been up to, besides my shoulder
recovery. I hope you all are having a better summer- I don't like all my
scheduled calendar activities to have red circles around them ( meaning a
doctor or dentist appointments). I need some more fun activities - to balance
this out. grin
So if anyone is in or traveling in the northern Virginia area , just give a
yell.

Kris,

My philosophy on those red circle appointments is that you need to schedule
something fun right after. It gives me something to look forward to while
the bad stuff is happening.

Plan a fabric shopping trip immediately after your next dentist appointment!

Go on over to your Cow Corner and give a few of 'em a Pat on the
head--specially between where the horns grow..our cows LOVED that--got
to where they could tell which one of us would give them that rub : )
Butterfly (always got a gentle head butt from the cow after ; )

(((((hugs)))))) As the immortal Ogden Nash wrote: Some tortures are physical
and some are mental, but the worst of all possible tortures are dental. And
(((((hugs))))) for your mom too! Keep quilting, at least you get something
tangible out of it.

Howdy!

Yesterday, as I was driving home from a fabric shop (didn't find what I
want),
I passed a group of kids selling koolaid and lemonade
on the corner of their yard.
Had to stop. It was 95º in the shade (they had a couple of beach umbrellas
set up over their table), and these 4 kids were waving and cheering at cars,
laughing and pointing at their signs. They earned a generous tip just for
being out there. The koolaid was.. uh..cold. G I shared it w/ the
hibiscus at the garage door.

Otherwise, I'm trying to ignore summer. g

Ragmop/Sandy--sending good vibes for Kris
(I'm on standby for federal jury duty starting next week, going on
for at least 2 weeks--means a trip to downtown Fort Worth!!!)

Kris, let me tell you about a fabulous summer experience we had last

night.
An ice cream truck came by. Now, I have seen less than a handful of them

in
the 16 years I've lived here. The 3 older kids were on their way to swim
practice, but we decided to delay that long enough to eat popsicles.
Everybody chose something - Giles picked a giant Spiderman ice cream

thing,
and Spike picked on that looked like Dora the Explorer. We sat on the

front
steps, talked to a couple of neighbors who walked by, and ate ice cream

and
popsicles. Giles absolutely loved her pop, but it kept dripping faster

than
she could eat. I don't know what kind of food dye they used, but she is
still a bit blue and red from it - all down her arms and legs. Yet she
refused to give it up! This tiny little girl, who rarely eats anything

much,
ate this enormous confection down to the stick, then asked for more! I had

a
fudge pop - my very favorite - and it was good, too!

Our summer is flying by very quickly. The kids will be back in school in a
month. We will be going back-to-school shopping next week, and I'm looking
forward to that the same way you look at dentist appointments!

I'm sending good vibes your way, and Spike and Giles send sticky ice cream
kisses. I'll be sure to fondle some fabric for you on my road trip with DD
this weekend.

There's an ice cream truck in our neighborhood -- every time I see it I
say to myself "only in America". The sign on the truck says "Ice Cream
and Italian Gelato", it's driven by a Sikh, and the music it plays is
"La Cucaracha".

We have the ice-cream truck at least once an evening (more when it's hot)
driving by our place. I KNOW they have other music but the only thing this
guy plays is Turkey in the Straw. I know he's coming when DH's eyes glaze
over and he starts hunting for something to smash the speakers with :-)

Where do you live? He comes down my block too. My dogs hate that music, it
sets them off. LOL
