I've never heard of anyone allergic to soy.... ever...
You would if you lived here. In this crunchy-granola town, everyone's been doing soy for so long, we've BTDT. ~~ Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap. The rest of you rattle your jewelry." Geez, I'm very allergic to soy. When I did my allergy testing for foods
that one was off the scale. They had to medicate me then and there. "Dr. Sooz" wrote in message ... I've never heard of anyone allergic to soy.... ever... You would if you lived here. I can't have soy at all. Once i had a coffee drink with soy milk, and two days later
had the worst flare up of my endometriosis I'd ever had. The estrogens in it are hell for me. -- Jalynne - Keeper of the Quilt for ME club list Queen Gypsy (snail mail available upon request) see what i've been up to at www.100megsfree4.com/jalynne See what DH is up to at http://www.teamintraining.org/participant/kinney-162652 "Dr. Sooz" wrote in message ... A friend of ours has a nutrition degree and has worked in natural foods for years. She gave us the downside to the praises of soy. Its is helpful in small doses, however it is actually harmful to women's hormones in larger doses. She seemed pretty upset about how its being pushed. I was reading about that. It's dangerous -- it mimics estrogen or something like that. It can be encouraging to cancers, etc. Especially female-type cancers. shudder ~~ Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap. Just wait until I am feeling GOOD. You'll want to run and hide.

I personally am against it because it is a top allergen that is being over-pushed as healthy. I've heard a lot about using soy milk in schools, and it makes me so mad! Some parents want peanuts out because they are an allergen, but soy is just as bad. I I've never heard this - and find it somewhat amazing - Japanese have eaten soy protein for a long time (i.e. tofu...) - I've never heard of anyone allergic to soy.... ever... Wow, that's odd! I did a lot of research about it after my two trips to the emergency room last year. Soy, peanuts and shellfish are considered the top three by far with the other things such as whey, chocolate, etc. much further behind. Since my reaction, I've met many people who are allergic or sensitive to it. Some people are allergic to some forms of it but not others. I don't really understand a lot about why people develop allergies, but I've been told that if you have always eaten something regularly, you won't develop an allergy. Soy used to just give me heartburn, so I avoided it. Then last spring, a protein powder that I drank began adding it, and I never even thought to look at the ingredients. The first time I tried the new mix with soy, I was sick within a few minutes. Perhaps the regular soy users are better accustomed to it. But definitely it can be a problem for hormone levels in people who aren't allergic to it. I don't remember the details, but its something about "phyto estrogen" (?) that in high doses does more harm than good. Our natural health advisor was telling us that it has become a problem with the way its being pushed, because women, instead of having a beneficial single serving, are getting too much of it. |

I think excess phyto estrogen inhibits the normal production of estrogen.

By the way, mjoann, We'd love to know little more about you. What part of
the States(?). What kinds of beading you like. What we should call you. Etc. So we can properly welcome you here. Tina |
