Default How to temporarily attach glass pieces to crochet project?

David , a net bag is really a little net that bundles into a kind of
`pouch or bag` ,,, you could crochet it yourself or buy some cloth net
or see through material , [ like the kind they sell nice smelling
dried flowers in ] and sew little bags.
Thank you for your wishes ,,,
mirjam

Thanks mirjam - you give me an idea, I had imagined the whole thing lying
flat on the table but I don't want the pieces knocked off accidentally,
they'd have to be detached deliberately. What's a net bag?

Wishing you and your family the best during these times,

David

Thanks Shirley, good suggestion!

*chuckle* What's with the "area 51" reference in your email addy to this ng?
Do you know of snaps which can cause my doily to float in the air, perhaps
act as a flying carpet? *grin*

If you go with that idea I would use the plastic type snap fastener and use a
clear glue to attach them to the stone. Also they will not show up as much on
the doily as metal ones and no risk of rusting.

Mirjam, I guess I've lived a sheltered life - I haven't come across net bags
containing nice-smelling dried flowers lol! But I think I understand what
you mean - I've gotten cloves of garlic, dried vermicelli noodles and a few
other food items in plastic "net bags", I guess that's what you mean.

Hi David,
Well I was getting so much spam that when I built and put my website up
my son David decided to anti spam my email address on newsgroups. It cut
the spam dramatically. He made that address up, not me, my brain does
not work that fast. After all I am 70.

Now about flying doilies, I cannot think of anything off hand but give
me time to work on it. LOL.
If I could I could sit on one and bring you some snap fasteners.
You can see a picture of my David on my website. He is at the back on
the right side in the picture in my family page.
URL in my sig.line

Ps, if you cannot get the fasteners I would be happy to mail you some.

lol! Hi Shirley,

Thanks for the offer - I'm going to look for them next time I'm at a craft
or sewing store. I'll email you if I can't find them.

I couldn't view the images on your website - I'm totally blind. I have a few
pictures collected of my crochet work on one page of my own website,
www.shellworld.net/~davidsky/crochet.htm .

Cheers,

David

Hi David,
I am very sorry to hear of your disability.
I will look at your work as soon as I can. Unfortunately I seem to be
having problems getting to websites. I just keep getting timed out
messages. Before he went to join his ship yesterday David tried to sort
it for me. He said there was some routing problem and I needed to call
my provider. This I did and they said it was my fire wall causing the
problem.
However David rang me a few hours later and said he did not think it
was, so he instructed me how to turn it off and then try for websites.
It did not make any difference so we know it is not that. I cannot get
ebay even. This is happening using both Firefox and Netscape.
However I can as yet get on with Internet Explorer.

I do not know if you are on Skype but I am if you want to contact me
that way.

Default Shirley: How to temporarily attach glass pieces to crochetproject?

Good morning Shirley,

No need to feel sorry for me - going blind helped to trigger the desire to
improve my life, which became a 16 1/2 year mentoring relationship with
James Tolchard, who worked with me and taught me specific techniques to
effectively work with my feelings and attitudes. (For example, just before
James started working with me over long-distance telephone, I had been
assessed as "anti-social, untrainable and unemployable" by a social worker
at the time - an assessment I agree with! - I frequently "blew up" at total
strangers in public. Plus I had a maximum 2-years medical prognosis - this
was in mid-1989.) So in fact I consider myself very fortunate in many ways.
James' website is www.processologyinstitute.com .

Regarding Skype - I connect to the net using my DOS computer, so I con't use
Skype. I can however use IRC - internet relay chat, talking back and forth
by typing. For Windows the program is called MIRC, I believe it's free to
download and use. I haven't used IRC in years so I would need to re-acquaint
myself in using it.

Cheers,

David
