Oh Kathy
I do hope you get to see a picture of her winning 'miniature' at
Paducah. It is quite unbelievable. And, for a wholecloth to win any
category it must have been good. Some of the stitching was too small to
*see* - how can she do that?

When I grow up I want to machine
quilt like her :-)

And when I grow up, I want to machine quilt like Diane Gaudynski! LOL (But
I'd settle for quilting like Linda Taylor, really I would. )

I guess if you are not going to get bummed if your entry is rejected,
there is no reason not to try! DH wants me to enter my MQ in a local
show... I only entered once, and while I won no prizes (it was one of
my first quilts, not that my newer ones have a better chance) it was an
interesting experience, especially to get the feedback from the judges.
I learnt that while my fabric/colour choices were good, I had to learn
how to do my mitered corners in the binding better, for example.

Two tricks -- silk thread, and a magnifying glass. (Well, three. Lots and
lots of practice! LOL)

I love doing detailed quilting like that, but it sure sucks up a lot of
time. This "making a living" stuff sure gets in the way of a lot of my
projects! ;-)

Hi Kathy!

Do you plan to enter this year's PIQF (2004)? I might be lucky enough
to go to this one this year, and I sure would want to make sure I look
for and see your lovely work.

Depends on how much time I have in the next couple of months. I have a
couple of projects started that would be candidates, and if I get either of
them done in time I'll submit them.

You can see a picture of Diane Gaudynski's winning quilt on her webpage
above. Note the size. She has been using silk thread for her teeny, tiny
stippling and machine quilting. Her website is worth the time to poke
around. Lots of good information on quilting and some outstanding pictures!

Ahhhhh!
Thanks - that explains it! Not the skill, but the method. Her other
one won a second prize I think.
