Default I sewed!!!

Other than trying out some of the functions on my new machine, and some
mending, I haven't done any sewing for a long time. (Some time before DS #2
was born in Sept.) I actually sewed yesterday!! When the baby went down
for his afternoon nap, DH keep the oldest entertained so that I could get
some sewing in. Then last night after both boys were in bed for the night I
got to do some more!! I am learning to do Cynthia England's picture piecing
technique. I did one block of her practice block from the book and it
didn't turn out too bad. Last night I started on another 3 so I can make a
small quilt of them. They are 6 in. so it will only be 12 in. finished plus
a binding. Don't thing I'll add any borders or anything. They are just
butterflies made from scraps and squishie material I had. I think I'll put
some muslin on the back and use it to try quilting on the new machine.

Just had to share with everyone!

Hip Hip Hooray!

Doesn't it feel great to get back to it? I have had a long break from
doing much sewing this year and I am just starting to want to sit and
sew again. Following family upheavals the boys (3yo & 6yo) are moving
into the big front bedroom vacated by DD and I am having their old small
beroom as my craft room. Hence I moved three single beds today as well
as 2 chests of drawers, lots of plastic toy crates....... I have to
finish the roman blind for their room - spaceman fabric lined with
blackout stuff and with a layer of cotton bump interlining to help
deaden the noise of the road we front on to - so it will be sort of quilted.

I am so looking forward to having my own space instead of squashing up
under the eaves in our (large) attic bedroom.

Lizzy
