Default Hubby amazed me.

My hubby is NEVER interested in what I sew. To him "It is all money
being spent"
I have finally finished my first Foundation pieced "top" got to quilt
it yet and I laid it out on the spare bed so I could just look at it
to get some ideas on how to quilt.
Last night when hubby came home from work he went past the spare
bedroom, looked at me just standing there and said.....WOW ! that
looks good.!!
Knowing my hubby he wasn't refering to me.......
I have finally got a nice comment on my quilting, decided that I
actually like my hubby now !!! lolol

Hi Charlie from Skyline Terrace! That is real progress! I am sure a
lot of people can relate to that. But, maybe he was referring to
you.....
Must catch up for a coffee with you, how's Wed. a.m. suit??

One can love them to bits and still want to bang their heads with the
frying pan! Mine is not too keen on the quilting, but like things like
the voile panels coz they pay!

Must feel good. I get the occasionally compliment too, but often I
hear. Well, I wouldn't have used those colors or those points don't match.

I go to the guild meeting for show and tell to get my pats on the back.

My dh is very different than that. He says hobbies cost money but
it is well spent. He is my biggest fan. He doesn't want me to
give anything away. That's why I still have so many of my own
quilts! Everyone needs a hobby and everyone likes to be supported
by the people in their lives.

Awwwwwwwwww....too bad you don't get more positive feedback at home.
My DH is my biggest fan - although sometimes, he also thinks he's the
quilt police! He loves most of my work and I often ask his opinion
and suggestions when I'm stuck but I don't always listen to them! LOL

The reason I took up quilting in the first place was because "HIS
HOBBY "" took him away from the home so much. He has been an active
member of our Surf Life Saving Club since 1963 and is there every
weekend. I was involved in it when my kids were a lot younger but
since they have grown up I have sort of lost interest, I used to go
and just sit there, but then decided that I could be more productive
at home. I have always sewn, clothing mainly but then enrolled in a
quilting class and the world opened up for me !!!!
Now I have 2 Embroidery machines, 1 Overlocker and a quilting machine
which is permently on my Handy Quilter Frame which sits under my
Pergola as it is too big to go inside the house !
All my family get quilts as presents, I have been asked to make quilts
for others but it is a hobby for me and not a sorce of income so so
far I have said no.
I have quilts draped over my furniture, on the beds, and am even in
the process of designing one for the back of the toilet door, (saves
me re-painting) lolol
My oldest son thinks it is great for me to have a hobby but even he
can't sway my hubby !
Oh well ! I married him for better or worse, I have many faults as
well so I can't really complain can I ?

When I teach, one of my objectives is for people to enjoy the
experience. I tell them that not all parts have to be perfect,
especially in a class on a first project. I mention that the sample has
"problems" but that unless they really want to know about them I won't
point them out. Instead I tell them about the galloping horse theory
and they do seem to have a good time and get on with things.
It is fun when students can learn something and have fun and appreciate
your samples.
It's also nice to get good feedback from others who may be more
experienced. I work hard on the "just say 'thank you' and don't
criticize your own work" as my DH tells me. G

Pati,
The students in your classes probably come back
for more, and eventually improve their skills.
Meantime, they discover the joy of quilting,
experience the special fellowship of quilters, and
have fun! When I taught Calligraphy Lessons, I
emphasized that if the student wanted every stroke
and line perfectly formed and aligned, then they
should just use computer programs! Perfect but no
heart!
