A few common Middle Eastern Stiches
As a follow up on the xst of the Beduin , i want to add some more info
xst is easier in desert as it is done on Gross woven cloth , in situations when somebody can`t copy or use 'patterns" .alsosince this dreses are worn daily , while doing household and Shepherding work , xst is more practical , it doesn`t easily catch on something and gets pulled out of place!!!! in Urban parts there are more elaborate st. Satin or flat stich, [seena lot in Beth Lehem Works and in Nazereth and upper Galilee , Couching stich is not very common , but one sees it here/there/ Creatn St , For filling and Joining . Fishbone st. Stem st. [outlining and and filling] Running st. Chain st. [used a lot to outline patterns ] mirjam |
