New to wire wrap jewelry ... how to get started?
Hello,
I just joined this group. I've read a few dozen of your posts in and it seems that most of the members are very experienced. I'm glad that I joined a group that I can learn. What's the best way to get started with wire wrap jewelry? I'm new to this and I set my goal to get to the point that I can make some cool jewelry and sell in my online store. Go to a class, or is this something that I can learn myself in a couple of months? Is there a good "wire wrap for dummy" tutorial or book? I'd like to get your feedback. Thank you for your time! Regards, Jessica online at: http://jewelrywonder.com/Baltic-Amber-Pendant/ |

Jessica, there are many books that promise to get you started in wire
wrapping, and a lot of them will do so -- but you'd be better off attending a class. Find a rock club or lapidary society in your area; many of them offer classes in wire wrapping, faceting, stone-cutting and the like, and in a small, personal atmosphere, to boot. Most clubs welcome guests and new members with open arms, and their class costs are a lot less than you'd find at a community college (even though the instructors are often one and the same!) You would also do well to point your browser at "Ganoskin" and subscribe to their Orchid List; it's populated by veteran jewelers and newbies alike, and you'll profit by it. Hope this points you in a pleasant direction... On Fri, 25 Jun 2010 23:45:22 -0700, Jessica discovered a keyboard and, for our edification and amusement, submitted Hello, I just joined this group. Regards, Jessica online at: http://jewelrywonder.com/Baltic-Amber-Pendant/ Classes are the best option. Books are next best, the last is experience, and doing it all yourself. Classes are great for a couple of reasons. The social side of meeting like minded individuals, and potential industry contacts. Insider information. Books, basically teach a lot and should be used as a starting point only. Dot it yourself is a very slow method, and full of the potential to make you cry. Regards Charles |

Regards, Jessica online at:http://jewelrywonder.com/Baltic-Amber-Pendant/ I agree classes would be best - I'd just add that there are videos both for purchase and perhaps on-line (try youtube). If you live in a medium/large city, you may have art/jewelry classes available through a Gem & Mineral club or junior college or craft 'guild'. Often, any local hobby/craft store will know of such organizations.(my own club teaches wirewrapping along with wax modeling, casting, fabrication,faceting/lapidary work etc.) For Gem & Mineral Clubs, check; http://www.amfed.org/ |

If I put Microsoft 2010 on my flash drive, will it stay on it installed?or just the Office 2010 Home And Student Product Key download? Will i have to install it over again? Or where could I find my registration code/key?I want to get microsoft office 2010 but my laptop has the 2007 trial version. Microsoft Office 2010 Is it a big hassle to upgrade from the 2007 to the 2010 using the product key or am I better off with the cd instead? Has anyone tried office 2010? How does it compare to the Office Professional 2010 Serial Key 2007?With Windows 7, the same key is for 32 and 64 bit versions - so if your computer came with 32-bit Windows 7, and you had Windows 7 |
