[metal] stamps
I read in an encyclopedia that stamps are one of the chief exports of
Andora in Europe. I wasn`t too clear about what kind of stamps so I am posing this question to this group. Perhaps somebody from Spain might know whether rubberstamps is what was meant with the term 'stamps'. Crafts being another major export from that country, it's almost the most logical conclusion. I've never heard of government agencies like the post office sending their order requests for postage stamps overseas. What's your opinion? -- ¶ pilcrow ⁄ virgule \ backslash news http://r.aguirre.home.att.net |

How old is your encyclopedia?
Their main businesses are tourism, cigarettes, cigars and furniture. Don't know how can you think that a countries major export product can be something like stamps? This is europe and not the dessert and we live in the 21st century too. Jan Bier de Stone wrote: I read in an encyclopedia that stamps are one of the chief exports of Andora in Europe. Andorra and other small countries (San Marino springs to mind) raise
considerable amounts of income for their country by producing short runs of special edition postage stamps to feed the needs of philatalists all over the world. Many philatalists collect stamps with a theme such as those depicting animals, butterflies or literary figures. I live in Spain, and the local Post Office always has a wide selection of special edition stamps on display for purchase by collectors. Ordinary postage stamps are self adhesive and printed with the value as they come out of a small machine on the counter or the self-service point. Jo |

Not until recently did I discover that there existed a country the size
of a spec in Europe between the France/Spain border line. What amazes me is that it is slightly larger than Monaco and yet I hear more things about Monaco than I do Andora. I suppose it was a bit far off to contemplate that rubberstamps could be among the most known exports of this country. My encyclopedia is pretty old. I should call it a history book now, I guess. Might be interesting to see how all the upgrades in today's delivery system with customizable stamps will effect this commodity. -- ¶ pilcrow ⁄ virgule \ backslash news http://r.aguirre.home.att.net |
