No. Fair. Can we have some pleeeeeeeeease?????
-- Kandice Seeber Air & Earth Designs http://www.lampwork.net What a pile o' snow we have here! I hate to say it, but I'm hoping it prevents us from doing the holiday thing :-) Just imagine: Four days of peace, stuck in the house, with nothing to do but torch, read, play with my animals, nap and eat stuff that John cooks... Fairbanks is technically a desert. It's just that the snow doesn't melt
until April or later. We do close down for cold occasionally. Schools close down at 20 or 30 below. Only time I saw the whole town shut down was when we had 60 below. Tahoe is the place I saw the very most snow. We had about 4 feet in a couple days. Just amazing amounts of snow. When the moist air from the ocean gets pushes up to the colder thinner air at the high altitudes (the lake is over a mile high, and the mountains are much higher), the moisture freezes, plus the thin air can no longer contain the moisture. Relative humidity changes to accommodate less moisture, both with altitude and with cold. Donner at the North end of the lake has even higher snow falls. Some of the highest in all the world. Sweetie, you can have ALL of it, as far as I'm concerned. I had to buy
boots today. BOY boots. FUNCTIONAL boots. Not the adorable, cutesy, fashionable or even FM boots. SNOW boots. Bah friggin' humbug. In article , Tinkster
writes: Would you like some of mine??? In previous years, I would have said YES! We need the water.... This year, we seem to be getting more rain. Of course, we got about a year's worth all in one week (around 10", I think), so most of it just ran into the drains and out to sea instead of restoring the water table and filling the resevoirs. Big Bear might appreciate a load of snow, though. Kaytee "Simplexities" on www.eclecticbeadery.com http://groups.yahoo.com/group/simplexities/ |

I guess I spoke too soon. The hiways going north and going to Anchorage are
"closed down". Though the cops here wouldn't dare to give a ticket to a citizen who had to make a trip. I just heard also that Alaska's high and its low today were 100 degrees apart. I'm just glad we have a supply of wood in, in case the power goes out again. It's cozy here in the log cabin. Tina "Christina Peterson" wrote in message ... Fairbanks is technically a desert. ROFL, Tink. Funny thing is....my DH finds those kinds of boots sexy on
women...really. He's an odd duck, but I sure love the heck out of him. Oh, and pass some of that snow...I really really really want a white Christmas. -- Jalynne - Keeper of the Quilt for ME club list Queen Gypsy (snail mail available upon request) see what i've been up to at www.100megsfree4.com/jalynne "Tinkster" wrote in message ... In article news.com,
Kathy N-V wrote: Our neighbors just say, "Jeez, that is one freakin' fat squirrel!" (They don't realize that it's a whole crew of freakin' fat squirrels) LOL! Thats great Kathy! Well here in the UK we are supposed to have snow in most places by tomorrow but I dont know how much or if it will actually happen. The Met men at work said there was a great possibility it would fall here in the south. While I would love it to be a white Christmas I know from experience that anything more than an inch or two and everything will grind to a halt and panic stations will ensue. :-) -- ally website: www.alcom.demon.co.uk |
