Default Hey Cher!!!

Probably you've seen the email already - the box just arrived and I'll
be gorging on biccies later (after the boy is in bed, bad mom that I
am I won't be sharing!).

I'll get your packet out on Monday!

Snicker! This reminds me of my aunt discovering McVitie's Digestives on
a visit to London. We started sending them back for her, and one of her
daughters told me how much she loved them: "Mom has ONE with a cup of
coffee every afternoon, and she won't share them with any of us -- note
even Dad!" Fortunately they're now available here.

Yeah, I can get 'em here too, but my absolutest favoritest ones are
only available in the wee tube of like 6 biccies, and they cost almost
as much as a bag of Pepperidge Farms cookies. So swapping biccies and
lotion for a book I don't really need seems a fair deal to me

I did find a tube in my pantry from my friend's last visit, almost two
years ago. Those poor biccies were stale as hell, and I ate 'em
anyhow.

Wow, new terms to me, what are "biccies" and "Digestives"? Are these like
cookies or crackers? I've heard the term "Digestives" before, but never
knew what it meant.

Yep, everything was there, including the caps. The biccies are fine -
the only McVitie's I've met that I don't like are the carmel ones, and
I can choke those down in a pinch *bwg*

I'll get your packet out tomorrow!

Karen,
"Biccie" is Britspeak for cookie. Usually a store-bought cookie in a
package. "Digestive" is a particular kind of cookie. The ones I buy in
Canada are made by McCormick's (sp?). You can get plain ones or chocolate
covered - dark or milk. I love them all!!! g

Hi, Karen, Brits have a tendency to shorten words they use a lot (you'll
have noticed Cher etc. referring to "Xmas pressies" for Xmas presents),
and "biccie" means "biscuit," which in the UK is either a cookie or a
cracker. If they want to specify a cookie as opposed to a cracker, it's
"sweet biscuit" or biccie.

Digestives, or digestive "biccies," are like what we call graham
crackers, and the origin is the same: the American Dr. Graham invented
high-bran flour to aid in digestion (the diet of that age was
notoriously low in fiber, which is why Victorians were always going off
to mineral spas for cures), and his results were named after him, but
the poor Brit dr (was it Bant, of "banting" (dieting) fame?) is
anonymous. Digestives are more cookie-like than our graham crackers,
which is why Yanks who encounter them fall so hard for them.

HTH!
