I have taken sewing needles on both domestic and international flights in
the last year. I only took 2 needles, figuring I wouldn't lose much if asked to give them up. I used a dental floss container to cut the thread - I did not take scissors. Some airlines will allow blunt-end scissors (like kid scissors), but call first. The large silver bowl that was my grandmother's caused way more problems than my needles. Those x-ray machines did not like it one bit! -- Wendy http://griffinsflight.com/Quilting/quilt1.htm de-fang email address to reply "Judy G" wrote in message m... I took it to Houston with me and worked on it in the airport when I had to wait for my plane. Not enough light on the plane to quilt. You weren't pulled aside and asked to give up your needles and sissors at the airport check point????? or asked to put them in your checked baggage? I didn't take sewing along on my trip to Boston this past Sept (first plane trip since 9-11) because I was sure there'd be a problem. |

Never. I've been taking my stuff on the plane for a long time. I take
fingernail clippers instead of scissors. Funny, I had a long fingernail file in my pocket book that is as long as a switch blade (forgot it was there) and they never questioned it. -- LN in NH a crazy quilter * hand quilter * & hand appliquér all in all --- a very slow quilter.... I took crocheting with me in Sept. No problem with the hook. For cutting I
took a round tipped scissors. Here's a link with lists of what can and cannot go on a plane in carry on and checked luggage. http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=177 -- Mary http://community.webshots.com/user/mardor1948 "LN (remove NOSPAM)" wrote in message ... I took knitting needles to Houston. No problem.
I heard someone talking. They said they print off the pages of what is and isn't allowed then carry it with them in case anything is questioned. -- Teresa in Colorado http://home.comcast.net/~treesaquilts The Presser Foot in Longmont and Fort Collins, Colorado www.thepresserfoot.com - "maryd" wrote in message ...
