I've been trying!!! Cross fingers & toes, and perhaps I'll be here regularly
before a week is even up. :^) DH was able to take off work early
today, and even rescheduled things for tomorrow so he can try and get all
our rewiring done here. Seems like forever, or could be I've spent all the
time in the kitchen I care to anymore. I've actually grown tired of those
brownies with all the nuts and caramel sauce slathered on top of them.
yikes!

Cross fingers & toes, and perhaps I'll be here regularly before a week is
even up.

Am supposed to find the other ng thread when I've gathered all my fabrics
for this Candlestick Quilt, but I just gotta' tell ya' ... I've never made a
quilt with 37 different fabrics in it before (and I have a start with 6 of
them so far) ... and I even started a journal type of thing. More for cross
referencing "what I've got & what I need to get" type of thing that will
probably be invaluable. Even printed it out and attached a small scrap of
fabric to each designated spot! :^)

Will find the right ng thread another day, but now I want to jot a quick
note to Julia's search for a hat pattern before DH unplugs us for the night.

(even toying with the thought of ordering the fabric kit, something I've
never done before, but it's JUST for me ... so I'll toy a little longer)

I don't know... sounds like a quilt that will only be used by someone that
doesn't live there.... but, you will get to see it everyday

If it's not leaving the house or being used by a different member of the
household like a spouse or a son or daughter, I think that should count
as a quilt for myself.

My fabric has been cut and blocks are sewn. Now need to join them together.

Well, looks like we have a good sized group. Here's what we do...and

thanks to
Butterfly for the suggestions.

We post here to the group on a monthly basis. I'll try to be the first to

post an
update, and the rest of you can follow my lead. I may have to have

someone post in
April for me, because i'm having surgery that first week...but we'll deal

with that
when the time comes. Posts will be titled "A Quilt for ME - January (or

whatever
month it happens to be)"

With your post, just tell us what you did this past month to further your

completion
of your quilt, even if it's just to say you picked out a pattern, etc. If

you wish
to show us a photo, i can offer space on my website (i'll be putting my

progress pix
there), or you can use your own photo sharing site. Whichever, just know

that the
option is open.

That's it, that's all there is to it. This is a no-pressure club. No

deadlines,
other than having your quilt finished by twelve months after you start it,

and even
that's pretty loose. I won't be hunting you down if you don't make an

update
post...nothing like that. My idea here is to encourage you (and me) to

make that one
quilt you've put off making for yourself, without adding pressure. Thanks

for
playing! I can't wait to see your progress.

I've seen several people who are planning on making a quilt for

themselves this
year.
I'm no exception. I find that I keep making quilts, but they end up in

different
homes. It's about time that I have one for my own bed. This year, i'm

working on
TWO. Maybe it's the snow that's making me want them, i dunno, but i'm

determined.

If those of you who are planning on doing the same this year would like,

we could
set
up a group, and either post off group or here, doesn't matter to me.

I'd like to
hear your progress, your struggles, etc. Let me know what you think.

If you want to contact me off group: craftigirl at earthlink dot net

Hi, everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted due to life & ISP
problems--we got a better new one so I'm back. I think a "quilt for me" is a
great idea. In fact, I've already started on 2 quilts for me. So, can I join
the "quilt for me" club, too?

I started a "quilt just for me" in 2002. It was the stars & stripes BOM
through my LQS (the one that abandoned us & went to the "big city"). My DS
(now age 17) wanted it, but I said, "No, it's *mine*"--so of course I had to
make a similar one for him so he'd leave mine alone. He's a lot bigger &
stronger than me, so I didn't really want to have to fight him for my quilt.
G Anyway, my quilt is *still* a UFO--I haven't worked on it at all for
several months because I was busy making *other* people's quilts. I just
have to finish quilting it & put the binding on. Are two year old UFO's
eligible?

Aforementioned DS & DD (age 19) gave me 11 1/2 yards of 7 assorted lovely
fabrics for Christmas. So, I decided it was time for me to add those to some
fabrics I'd already bought and start the new quilt for our new bed that I
promised DH I'd make--only promised that a year ago! LOL! I also decided
that I'd piece both sides cuz a quilt has to have 2 sides anyway, so both
might as well be pretty, right? G I started cutting fabric for first
"winter"side on Christmas night. It is purple, red, green, & cream Hidden
Wells. www.reddawn.net/quilt/hwells.htm I've since cut out some of the
fabrics for the second "summer" side. It is WoW, medium blue flowers, &
darker blue Chinese Puzzle.
http://www.quilterscache.com/A_C/Chi...EASYBlock.html I doubled the block
size to 24" since we have a king-sized bed.

Of course you can join. Just added you to the list. I promise, no nagging...as long
as you post progress monthly. Hugs and good luck.

Thanks! One of my New Year's resolutions is to try to join & participate in
more groups that I enjoy (and to say "no" to the ones I don't enjoy).
Nagging? I don't mind it--especially if it's to do something for *me.* G

I sewed all the HST's for the "summer" side this afternoon.
