I had this feeling that you were a little bit of a shy person, don't

know
what gave me that impression, but there you are. Funny thing is, when I

was
young I was terribly shy, but even though I get a bit self concious too,
you'd not believe it, when you see me working, and I'm as mad as a

hatter,
up on tables, out the mens loo's...lol Wearing absolutely mental

clothes,
walking up a bar, and just making a general idiot of myself, and my duo
partner is worse..(vbg).

So I think we all have these traits, but hide it best we can.

LOL, she has me pegged to a tee! I'm very shy, with people I don't know
well, but I cover it by acting outrageous at times!
And look out when I KNOW people, they can't shut me up!
Can't public speak, even amongst friends though... I FREEZE!
Hugs,
Noreen

Interesting thing about public speaking.... I used to FREEZE too, Noreen.
Then when I joined the OES, I took an "office" . At the beginning of each
meeting I had to say a few words. Never "off the cuff", as there was ritual
work that you memorized. Later on in the year I had a five minute story that
I also memorized and told, with gestures to emphasize. Then 12 years later,
I started to prepare for the Worthy Matron office, which is like the
president of the Chapter. For 3 years I had more and more memory work and
did start speaking "off the cuff". in my 15th year I was Worthy Matron. I
ran meetings, ad libbed A LOT... LOL, and when visiting other Chapters, I
did learn to speak "off the cuff". I'm not great at it, but now I can at
least get up and do it. And I expect that I will do it all again. Actually,
I hope someday to be elected into the District Deputy Grand Matron office.
There you really do a lot of unprepared speaking, I mean that you have to
come up with something to say at about a 5 minute notice (if you are
lucky!).

I guess it depends on the person, though. I do know a lady in our town, that
faints if she tries to speak in public. Needless to say, she doesn't do THAT
anymore.
