Default IWCS Seeks Editor for World of Wood

The International Wood Collectors Society (IWCS) invites applications for the
position of editor for its journal, World of Wood. The editor is responsible for
the editing, laying out of the publication, preparing it for printing, and
coordinating the printing and mailing of the publication. The editor must be or
become a member of the IWCS when accepted for the position. This is a part time
paid position and would be ideal for a retired person wishing to remain active
in the work force. The journal will be published six times per year and the
salary offered is US$1,800 per issue plus a like amount for the annual
directory.

The editor will perform the necessary functions from his/her own office or home,
since the IWCS does not have a central office. The editor must have the ability
to communicate with members and other contacts via electronic means (i.e. high
speed e-mail connection is required). The applicant must have the appropriate
computer equipment to prepare the publication for printing. Although the editor
will not be required to write material for the publication, it is anticipated
that he or she will make every effort to acquire material that fits the format
and purposes of the journal to ensure that the specified number of pages can be
published with informative and interesting materials.

Preference will be given to applicants with forestry or closely related natural
science knowledge and experience, who possess appropriate academic,
administrative, editorial qualifications and small journal publishing
experience. The editor must be able to work harmoniously with a broad spectrum
of personnel types to encourage participation in writing for the Journal.

The IWCS is a non-profit Society founded in 1947 and dedicated to advancing
information on wood and encouraging the creative use of wood. The Society has
some 1200 members residing in 35 countries world-wide. Because the IWCS is a
non-profit Society registered in the United States and the majority of the
membership is located in the United States, it is preferred that the editor also
reside in the United States. However, candidates from other countries are
encouraged to apply for the position and should provide suggestions concerning
how the problems of printing and distribution of the journal can be effected
economically from their location.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume showing their education
and experience related to the task to be done by May 31, 2005. They should also
submit the name, address, telephone number and e-mail address of at least three
references. Please submit this application material to:
