Eros 1 Ball Scarf Pattern from Plymouth Yarn Website
Coming out of lurkdom to ask...
Has anyone made an Eros scarf from this pattern? It's at http://www.plymouthyarn.com/home/freepatterns.html The pattern says I need to double the Eros. What is the best way to do this? Is there a better pattern to use? (I've already cut the strands for the fringe and would prefer not to let them go to waste.) Help! Gina Beirne |

I know how to work with two strands...just want to know how to divide the
ball of Eros into two sections...is this more clear? "Gina Beirne" wrote in message .. . Coming out of lurkdom to ask... Has anyone made an Eros scarf from this pattern? I would re-wind the ball on a ball winder, or just collapse the core and dig out the end in the middle, then use the inside and outside ends. I really would, but I'd do it knowing that it is going to be a nightmare tangle long before I'm done, even if I use a yarn bra. Thanks for the advice. I don't have a ball winder so I'll have to unravel
the ball even though it's going to end up a huge tangled mess... I'm going to start it tomorrow... I'll keep you all posted... Maybe it would be easier to get another ball and make 2 scarves?

Gina,
I made this scarf, but I used a different railroad type "yarn." I used Berrocco's Mosaic. Since these are 25 g balls, I used 2 at once, and didn't have to unwind the ball. I really liked the way this came out, as has everyone that has seen it. I tried the pattern that my LYS suggested, using just garter stitch instead, but this was more interesting. I also added more fringe, as that's how my daughter wanted it. My oldest daughter saw this and now she wants 1. My friend bought Eros and tried to knit from both the end and the center at the same time, but it didn't work well. I am afraid that you will probably have to unwind the "ball" and rewind into 2 separate ones. Hope this helps. Janise "Gina Beirne" wrote in message .. . Coming out of lurkdom to ask... Hi Gina,
What a pretty scarf. I also want to welcome you to the greatest ng there is. Now what color are you making the scarf? Nora |

Hi, Nora. Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking here for a while but
just got up the nerve to post. I've been knitting for less than a year. I'd always wanted to learn how but didn't have anyone to teach me. So one day I stopped by the LYS and asked for lessons. I was slow to catch on. The two women who learned with me caught on much quicker than I did. But I persisted. The funny part is that they didn't stick with it, and I did! I love knitting so much. It seems like I have actual withdrawal symptoms when I don't get to knit for a day. I'm also a cross stitcher. I think knitting is going to be my fall/winter craft, and cross stitching my spring/summer one. I have made numerous hats out of bulky yarn, some done as Christmas presents. I made a sweater last winter for my daughter. I also made Christmas stockings for my two kids. One red with white heel and toe for my 6 year old daughter; the other green with white heel and toe for my new son. I'm now working on a pair of socks for me! My only UFO is a baby afghan for my son. I work on it a couple rows here and there whenever I don't have anything else on the needles! My Eros scarf is going to be done in red. I'm so excited! I can't wait to wear it (and I haven't even started working on it). My mother said to me, "You know that your sisters-in-law are going to want them too!" That's fine. Let them be envious! Hi, Gina,
I have been out of commission for a while, so I missed your original post. However, I would like to add my words of welcome. Good for you, sticking to your knitting! I agree with your mother, and I'll bet that you will end up making more scarves. g Katherine |

Hi Gina I have made four scarves from a slightly less expensive version of Eros yarn. I used "Kitty" ladder yarn, single strand and cast on 40 stitches instead of 12; and no fringe. The Kitty ball of yarn contains approximately 250 yards and easily makes a wonderful scarf from one ball. A word of warning though....... count your stitches every few rows, as it is very easy to lose one here or there. It's also very easy to "double" your "yo" (yarn over) and that leaves you with a very long stitch on the way back. And - here's the biggest watch-out. This pattern with this yarn can be very hard to "tink back" if you find an error. All that said - the scarves worked up quite quickly and I think they're gorgeous. I made one for myself in a silver/copper colourway and it looks smashing with a black or brown coat, blouse, etc etc. Shelagh "Gina Beirne" wrote in message .. . Coming out of lurkdom to ask...
