Default kAYAking...holy macaroli!!

At that point, I realized I was topless. (Not at all acceptable on a
lake in a tiny town South of Boston.)

Great story, thanks for sharing it! ...I'm wondering if you were banned in
Boston after that??? Gee, I'd be so proud to be banned anywhere!! LOL

For a single person craft, you need to be in good shape, especially
in the upper body.

I'd have to mildly disagree here... the boat I was on was very light and easy
to maneuver, and I'm NOT in good shape. I had to try to hoist myself onto a
horse in Hawaii last year, and because of my weight combined with my upper body
wimpiness, there was NO way. Paddling around this very calm body of water was
very easy, and the nice thing was that when I did start to get fatigued, I
could "coast" for a while, rest my arms, stretch and rotate my wrists, etc.

Sooz, come here and I'll go out with you for as far as your little be-wracked
body can go...and back!

The only thing I would insist
upon is that anyone who cannot swim for a mile or two at a time would
need to wear a PFT. (Personal Flotation Device)

Absolutely. I found one before we went at a local boating store, that fit me
PERFECTLY. it is like a tank top style, and the cutouts were in perfects spots
for my boobs and belly and it didn't ride up and push on my earlobes in the
boat, for which I was very grateful!!

Safety first. (Well, fashion is first and a half, my vest was a tatty navy and
silver...)
