What technique(s) did you use for the pictures on your memory quilt?
I have seen/tried 3 different methods. 1 - Printing on T-Shirt transfers then ironing on a pale solid coloured fabric. 2 - A product from The Shopping Channel that a neighbour of mine bought which you print your picture, then use this liquid stuff to attach it to the fabric/muslin. Then use another liquid chemical to "wash away the paper fibers away from the picture. It took us a LONG LONG time to get it nice. Then, you couldn't iron the picture or it would melt due to the picture being turned into a plastic type product. Then it peeled off the fabric in places after all that work. AGH! It was weird and awkward to work with it. I would never use that again. Unless someone had experience with it and had some advice to offer. 3 - Make vinyl covers that you place the pictures in and you can replace them when you wish to wash it or change them. Anyone else have any other ideas that have worked well or not? It might be nice to share our experiences... -- Christina Doucette http://community.webshots.com/user/christinark "TinaHoak" wrote in message ... I just took a workshop of photo transfers using the new "Printed Treasures"
photo sheets that you put in the printer and print pictures. It's probably just a fabric prepared with Bubble Jet Set solution and trimmed and backed to easily put in the computer printer. The pictures came out great. I have treated my own fabric with Bubble Jet Set and had very good results. I used to iron the fabric on to freezer paper and then trim to standard paper size but often the fabric would get a bubble in it and then the print wouldn't be perfect. I now use Avery Labels that are the size of a standard sheet of paper. They can be used several times before discarding. I have tried a couple of the methods you outlined, but the fabric sheets (whether purchased or prepared at home) are definitely better. You can see some of my photo transfers on the African quilt on my webshots page. Just know that I manipulated the original colors to make them "artsy"! Christina,
I used iron on photo transfer paper . The photo can not be ironed after it is applied or it will "melt". But with my dad , I was not worried about that ! Tina Brockport NY Christina Doucette wrote: What technique(s) did you use for the pictures on your memory quilt? |

Yeah ,I am working on the label for it today/ tomorrow. It is called "Black Lake Beauties: the ones that got away" Black lake is where he and his buddies went fishing every year for a week. Man , the "stories" they'd tell about the "big one" etc..... Tina Brockport NY Sandy Foster wrote: Wonderful quilts, Tina! I love your dad's fishing quilt. g |

iron muslin onto freezer paper, print, heat set (only one type of
printer works for this but I can never remember which does and which does not) - cheap though!
