Default budding beader

Sunday I drove to York, PA for a small (too small) bead show. It was put on by
Intergalactic, so I was expecting more vendors than they actually had.
Disappointing as that was, it was offset by the fact that my daughter and
granddaughter drove down from Wilmington to meet me there.

Emily (7 1/2) had strung beads on paper clips and then hooked the clips over
her regular hoop earrings, just to impress her Bubbee. I was SO touched and of
course they were quite noticeable to the vendors there who made a suitable fuss
over her. ("Did you make them yourself? Aren't you a smart little beader!" etc
etc)

My daughter, who doesn't bead, had another agenda. She watched me carefully to
see what I really wanted but wasn't buying myself. (My eyes, of course, were on
the beads. I didn't even notice her doing this.) Apparently, I picked up
stick pearls at every single table and put them back. Later, when we went to
lunch, she surprised me with a lovely strand of white stick pearls as a
birthday present.

Sorry I don't have pics, but I wanted to share my special day.

Awwwwwwwww. Emily sounds like a cutie, and that was so sweet of your
daughter! I think I did the same thing at the last bead show, here. I kept
looking at stick pearls, but didn't buy any. They're so pretty, just kind
of expensive.

Oh man!! I was there Sunday as well - I didn't get there until 3 because I
worked until 2. It *was* a small show - and put together fast. Just today I
was talking to the owner of York's only true bead shop and she's heard
rumors about the show's management. There is supposed to be another show in
November (12 and 13?). Maybe there will be more vendors for the next show.
It could be that with this being the first in York, they wanted to see how
well it went over. Hopefully this new management company can do some good
things for those of us starving for quality beads in this area.

Yeah, I thought they were expensive too. In fact, I thought it was too
expensive even for a gift. But of course, I couldnt' say that. So instead,
after lunch we went shopping and I bought Emily two outfits for school. Bubbee
can be sneaky, you know. G
Now I have to get something for Nate, too. hee hee.

Nov 12/13 - provided I stay employed there that long. Some days I could walk
out and never return. ;-)
