Default oxy hydorgen torch

once these are turned on do you hve to wait for the air in the system to
be purged?
i have a very old oxy hydorgen torch outfit with no manuals
i am assuming since the physics and chemistry of these torches is
identical i am asssuming that the use is identical
any info really appreciated

When you first turn them on, there may be air in the line if you've not used it
for a while, and perhaps also only if the torch handle valve was opened to the
air. If that's the case, you won't be able to light the torch until it's
purged, but that should only take a few moments, and normally in use, it
doesn't happen, since the on/off control of the torch is usually on the torch
handle, which then seals the hose from the atmosphere, just as it would with a
normal fuel/oxygen torch once you'd turned the tanks on for the day.
