OT sorta - stupid injury to keep me from sewing
Okay, this is stupid.
Last night, DS1 and I were moving a heavy piece of furniture, he zigged, I zagged, and the thing ran right over my left big toe. It didn't come down on top of my toe, just scraped across it and peeled half my toenail clean off in a nice bloody mess. (Getting my sock off was, um, interesting. In the Chinese curse sense of the term.) Well, I cleaned and clipped and it looks like it'll heal just fine, but thing hurts more than a minor toe injury has any right to hurt. I can't even wear a sock, much less a shoe. I can't stand up for any length of time or even dangle the leg. It makes me wish I had a different sewing cabinet, because I can't figure a way to put my foot up while sewing, so no working on the current quilt top today. *sigh* I hurt my toe and can't sew. This makes no sense. Stupid injury. *sigh* -- the black rose GO LANCE GO!!! proud to be owned by a yorkie http://community.webshots.com/user/blackrosequilts |

This calls for liberal doses of Chocolate! Wrap the painful toe in lovely
fabric for its healing powers. Between the two you should be stitching in a couple of days.! ((((hugs)))) -- Sugar & Spice Quilts by Linda E http://community.webshots.com/user/frame242 |

Ow!!!! Injuries involving nails being bent and torn give me the creepy
chills. It hurts so much because of all those lovely nerve endings you exposed and abused. My advice is: dont do it again. Please. I hope it heals quickly and you find a way to quilt despite your injury. Hugs Diana "the black rose" wrote in message ... Okay, this is stupid. {{{hugs}}} dear! I just cut my finger in the kitchen and I'm having to
learn how to type all over again. Don't want to get blood or medicine on the quilt, so I'm occupying my time by learning this new skill. Your toe sounds real owie! Be careful of infection. And eat lots of choccie. Howdy!
No, it "makes no sense" at all. Handsewing/quilting requires no help from toes, toenails, socks, or shoes. For some of us. g Hope you're using a decorative band-aid; the Snoopy ones always make boo-boos heal faster. Really. I have proof! Cheers! Ragmop/Sandy "the black rose" wrote in message ... I agree! And, you could always put the foot pedal up on the table and press
it with your elbow if you want to machine quilt. Hope you feel better soon. {{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}} syc " Ellison" wrote in message news Howdy! No, it "makes no sense" at all. Ah, but nail-ripped-from -toe injuries are terribly painful. Several years
ago, my big toe got to be real tender, and would ooze when I pressed on it, so went to the Doc. He said, "Ah, ha, got an infection under the nail, best way to cure it is to remove the nail" "How much will this hurt?" asks myself. "Oh, it won't hurt at all," says he. Well, unfortunately, what I meant was how much is this going to hurt over the long haul, I was teaching at the time, and needed to stand for long stretches while I lectured. What he meant was, "I'll give you a shot of novacaine, and it won't hurt at all when I yank it out." Well, he did, and then yanked the nail off with a pair of pliers. And that didn't huet much. But holy cow, later that night when the novacaine finally wore off!!!! I had less pain when I had a 9 inch long insision for manor knee surgery! The only way I could stand to wear a shoe so I could teach was to cut the whole toe area out of a jogging shoe. Couldn't stand anything even touching it for several weeks.
