Default Great quilty weekend! (LONG)

Friday and Saturday was my ASG chapter's annual sewing getaway. We
headed off to the middle of nowhere to a spacious B & B and sewed away.
And you are correct, I didn't tell you I was leaving. I know better
than to announce to this group that my stash was going to be unguarded
for two days!

I got there about 9 and set up my little sewing space. As soon as we
all settled in, the machines started whirring away. My first project
was a tweed purse to match a skirt I'd made a couple of years ago.
(Yes, it's taken me that long to get around to it.) I had it all cut
out, so I started sewing away at it. By lunch at 12:30, I was about
half way through it.

We had a huge lunch of chicken, green beans, lettuce salad, apple salad,
tortellini, scalloped potatoes, and brownies and ice cream, that was
billed as a "light" lunch. All the meals were like that too, I won't
need to eat for a week.

After that, it was tempting to take a nap, but I went ahead on the
purse. Two zippers and a lining later, it was finished. And it turned
out well. I'll use it for the bag challenge at the annual style show in
March.

Time for a break, so several off us went out into the cold for a nice
walk. We worked up an appetite for the upcoming dinner. After the
walk, I started on my next project, quilting a Xmas wall hanging. I
finished the quilting after dinner, then cut the sleeve and binding. I
bound the quilt, had a snack, and late as it was, got a second wind, so
started on project 3.

Project 3 was an applique block for a hand applique class I'm taking. I
had about half of the pieces on, so finished the rest. When I got the
last heart sewed on, it was about 1:30 or so, so I went off to bed for a
couple of hours.

Saturday, before brunch, I did the hand embroidery on the applique
block. After brunch, I started and finished a little quilt kit of a
cat, that I bought several years ago. I finished up the quilt just
before the 3 p.m. lunch.

After lunch we had show and tell. Everyone got tons of stuff done. And
decided to do this again in August. Then it was time to load up the
cars and head home. At home, I pretty well collapsed from exhaustion.

I've had a good sleep and now I'm ready to take everything back to the
sewing room and start a new project!

Sounds like a great weekend! It looks like my quilting will be limited to a
few hours this afternoon (although I did get the fabric in order
yesterday!), so I'm envious of the time you had to work on all your
projects.

Maureen, this sounds like such fun! And you got so much accomplished
that I'm really amazed. Just goes to show what we can do when life
doesn't interfere.

What a great retreat! I cannot believe how much you got done in two
days. Must have been all that great food that you didn't have to cook.

It doesn't happen very often does it? I feel spoiled now and would
rather not go to work today. :-)

Amazing isn't! Everyone was happy with the progress they made with
someone else to cook and clean up and do DH's or children to interrupt.
