Default easy baby bib crochet or knit pattern

Hi, Brenda!
Long time, no see!
I honestly don't use a pattern, I just make them, so I can't help.
But, I did want to welcome you back to the fold.
DO ignore the troll's fake posts, it was NOT any of us, although they
appeared to be from some of us.

I'd have to agree with Mirjam, terrycloth, just buy a cheap towel, cut it
into bibs, edge them with edging, extend the edging for ties....
Good old fashioned REAL diapers also make good bib material.....

I have one I really like, but it's in Italian. If you don't find one
you like, let me know and I'll translate it. Since that would take a
few hours, I'll wait to see if you find something else you like.

Just to give an idea, it's made with thread (no. 5 or no. 8 perle
cotton) and a fairly small hook. It starts with a chain which is
shaped to fit around the neck by putting increases (dc, ch2, dc all in
the same stitch) where each bend should be (5 places altogether,
including the center front). At some point, you work just the center
part, but then later go back to working all around. It has a row of
triple crochets near the border which is then used to thread a long
ribbon all around the bib, and this ribbon is also used to tie the
bib. I crocheted the ribbon with a contrasting color of thread. The
border itself is finished off with a row of sc and picots.

Maybe that's enough so that you can improvise the whole bib.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I gotta admit I have never seen a yarn
bib and it does seem impracticable. I thought maybe it was to be worn with
Sunday dress as a drool bib. I have a new step-granddaughter and I am
crocheting an afghan for her. Also, my oldest granddaughter is expecting my
first great-grandchild. I am not that old, I AM NOT THAT OLD!!! Ha! I
guess I must be.................Brenda
