Default How to pack fabric?

Hooooo-weeeeee! Since you don't know how long is "long term" and there's
not much money, that's a tough question. This method is almost free. I
begged some boxes - very heavy cardboard - that copy machine paper is
shipped in. Places that do lots of copying, such as a hospital, are glad for
you to carry them away. I put my stashes in sturdy plastic trash bags and
then in the boxes. This is not an ideal plan but thus far, they survived
heat, cold, extreme humidity and critters.
We have moved twice under circumstances much like yours, once when our
2nd baby was due in a week and once when a hurricane was huffing and puffing
at the shoreline. Just try to keep some of your wits about you and don't
pack the strawberry ice cream in with the fabric. Sending hugs, sympathy and
prayers, Polly

Hello,
Please, could I have thoughts on packing fabric away. Just found out today
that the owner of the house needs to sell it. Will be putting it up for

sale
in the next 2 weeks, then we will have 60 days to be out as soon as it
sells. I will be packing all my fabric away, and I'm not sure for how

long.
Is there something special that needs to be done with the fabric in order

to
keep it safe for maybe long term packing? ( besides mailing all of it to
you) This couldn't happen at a worse time, DH needs to have surgery for a
hernia and there is no money to move. We just might end up in a motor home
for awhile. If we do I'll be able to travel around and come visit

everybody.
HaHA.
Thank you for any suggestions, take care.
Country Sharon

IF you can==sprinkle baking soda in the bottom of each bag before you
put the fabric in--keeps the 'odors out'. When we moved from WV to NM, I
used those large plastic containers((the plastic smell was quite
overwhelming))--sprinkled the baking soda in each, put the fabric
in--taped the lids on tight put them into black garbage bags--in case
the lids came off--taped the bags SHUT--wrote COLOR of fabric on paper
and taped that to the TOP of each garbage bag. Stuff went into storage
for awhile.
When I opened it--I was very pleased as the fabric did NOT smell like
plastic : ) Yes, I rewashed it all--but I could handle it.
I'm sorry you have to move again--but do please--keep us updated on how
both your DH and you are doing.
Hugs

Have you thought about those space bags? I've wondered myself if they work
and bought some to try out. Don't wait for my experiences with them. It
will take me 60 days just to remember where I put them.

I can understand why you wouldn't trust some of the people in this newsgroup
with your stash (and with good reason) but I can provide you with references
and an 8 x 10 glossy of the intended storage area.

You can trust me.

No kidding.

Would I make this up?
