Seeley's Mystery Kiln
I have been given a Seeley's SOK66 table-top kiln (aboit 18" high). Does anyone know anyihing about these? The temp knob says LOW-1-2-MED-4-5-HIGH, and the label says the max temperature is 2300. I'd like to know what the equivalent code temperatures are for the knob.
I emailed Seeley's a month ago (and again today) and haven't gotten a reply yet. Thanks all --Pat |

The knob which shows Low -1 - 2 - MED - 4 -5 - HIGH is just to control the rate of temperature rise - it has no effect on the top temperature at all. If you want a slow rise, you set it to LOW - if you want a quick rise, you set it to HIGH. To control top temp you need to use a pyrometer or cones. Dave "Tapper" wrote in message ... Thanks! That's what I was looking for. I've only used (other people's)
kilns where you set the temp you want and walk away, so I've never seen one that needs to be baby-sat. I assume people sell pyrometers for these kinds of kilns? I'll check my catalogs.
