DIY Network
I was just clicking around the MANY tv channels yesterday and to my
surprise I found 2 shows on the DIY network that I had to see - Jewelry Making and Knitty Gritty. JM was a bit of a disappointment - I came in halfway - but I will try to watch again. KG was actually doing something that I want to learn - knitting on DP needles. The project was mittens on size 10 dps. I think this might be a good way for me to start, the little sock dps seem like toothpicks! I taped the show so I could watch the cast on etc. again. The instructor didn't cast onto one needle and then move stitches - she cast onto all 4 one at a time. Also she did a very cool thing for the thumb, knitting the thumb stitches onto a piece of scrap yarn. Then later she took off the scrap yarn and put the stitches that were "live" onto needles for the thumb. This may all sound really elementary but I loved seeing it! There's a website too http://www.diynetwork.com Alison |
