Classic tiffany - explanation?

Hi All,

I've been googling for an explanation of what exactly the classic tiffany
style for an engagement ring *means*, and so far I've turned up nothing.
I've asked various friends and none of them have known either. It seems to
be a popular style. Any clarification on this matter would be greatly
appreciated!

It is just called a Tiffany setting because Louis Tiffany invented it
at a time when stones tended to be set in very elaborate bezel
settings, so it was a very revolutionary design.
