Hey Susan; All joking aside, as Polly said they were volunteers. As
Polly said the temps are getting into the 30's in some places with
frost on a clear night. I read in the coast newspaper (The Sun
Herald), in a column called Around South Mississippi that food supplies
are running low for Hancock County. They say the donations are
starting to drop off and food donations will be needed for many weeks
and months to come. The critical need is for case lots and "family
size" canned goods and other nonperishable food items. In another
column called Sound Off an individual said that the hardest hit areas
are Perlington, Lakeshore and Bayside. They are at the waters edge
and the towns themselves are gone. The people living there have no way
of getting out. Their automobiles were destroyed. I was listening to
the radio today and heard about a 70 year old lady living in a tent on
her property. Her home is gone and she has missed the FEMA rep three
times and is now living in the tent so she won't miss him the next time
so she can get a trailer to live in.

My little town has grown by about 40,000 people and Hattiesburg Ms ( a
college town) has grown by about 60,000.
The insurance adjusters want we homeowners to chase down the various
trades to get estimates so the adjusters can close there files. That
is a direct quote from my adjuster. The roofer told me it will be about
a month before he can get to me, the fence installers and the
contractor to build me a new shed said the same. There is no one
around to fix my cracked windows. BUT.... my home like Polly's is
still standing and I've lost very little compared to so many others.
Food and water are the most needed things and the hardest to come by
now. Red Cross shelters are closing and thousands have yet to find any
shelter other than a tent. If you know any of those folks with Habitat
for Humanity that are building the "box" homes please tell them we are
so thankfull for their efforts.

A woman in the Annapolis Quilt Guild took the female pin-up Alexander Henry
fabric and did a stack and whack with it. It was quite entertaining what pieces
ended up being cut out of the fabric. One of just torsos, one of just legs,
etc. She did it for her college age son but ended up keeping it herself.
giggle

I was thinking I might have to do that with this fabric. VEG!
